Adventure Trips - Spring 2024

Did you know the ESRC has an Adventure Center?

How do I get there? When you arrive at the ESRC, walk to the back towards the climbing wall and you’ll find the Adventure Center and Adventure Leadership Program staff ready to help you find your next adventure!

Belay Clinics: January 9th through April 10th

Join us Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the ESRC Climbing Wall to learn some climbing tips and tricks. This FREE Belay Clinic will teach the basics of climbing safety. No prior experience required!

During the class learn about basic climbing wall equipment, how to tie our climbing knots, and how to manage the rope for other climbers. Following the clinic, you can take a belay test at a later day to become belay certified at the climbing wall.

*If you have not already signed a climbing wall waiver for Fall of 2023/Spring 2024, you will need to show up early to do so.*

Day Hike: Wednesday, January 24th and Wednesday, February 14th

Come hike with us through the Otter Creek recreational hiking trails from 3:00PM - 6:00PM. Transportation will be provided to and from the hiking location. Closed toed shoes required, and dress appropriately as we will be hiking outside while the sun is setting. Both events are FREE for students!

Aquarium Day: Saturday, January 27th

Spend a day at the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knolls Shore! Experience live animal encounters, feedings, a 285,000-gallon shark tank, and interactive exhibits. The price for this event includes park entrance and transportation. This event is $15 for students!

Overnight Ski Trip: Saturday, February 10th - Sunday, February 11th

The Adventure Leadership Ski and Snowboard Trip is back! Join us for an overnight trip to Boone, North Carolina for a nighttime ski or snowboard session! Price includes transportation, rental equipment, and lift tickets. This event is $200 for students.

Zoo Day: Saturday, February 17th

Let's go to the zoo! Spend the day at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, NC to see different animals that can be found across the world! With 500 developed acres, it is the world's largest natural habitat zoo and one of the two state-supported zoos. Transportation is provided. This event is $15 for students.

Spring Break Trip (Helen, GA) March 2nd - March 6th

Need Spring Break Plans March 2nd through March 6th? Join us for a 5-day, 4-night trip to the German town in Helen, GA. A trip to Six Flags and zip-lining tours are included! Cost is $400 for students! We will stay at a cabin in downtown Helen which is walking distance to local restaurants and attractions. Price includes transportation, heated lodging, planned excursions, and most meals. This event is $400 for students!

Sunday SUP: Sunday, March 17th

Have you always wanted to try stand-up paddle boarding? Come with us to Washington, NC from 9:00AM - 2:00PM to learn how to stand-up paddle board. Transportation and gear will be provided and our staff will be there to help! The event is $15 for students.

Friday Floats: March 22nd, April 5th, and April 12th

Join us for a nice trip paddling on the Tar River in Greenville, NC from 3:00PM - 7:00PM. Transportation and boats will be provided, plus awesome instructional staff will be there to teach the strokes. Don't forget a water bottle and sunscreen! This event is $10 for students.

Pilot Mountain Trip: Saturday, March 23rd - Sunday, March 24th

Interested in learning outdoor climbing? Come spend the weekend with us at Pilot Mountain State Park. Camp for the weekend and spend the days climbing. Transportation, meals, and instruction are all included. All skill levels welcome! This event is $75 for students.

Zip Thursdays: April 4th and April 11th

Check out the Zip Line at the North Recreational Complex from 4:00PM - 7:00PM! All gear is provided, however you are responsible for your own transportation to NRC. This event is FREE for students!

Skydiving: Saturday, April 6th

Ready to try something new? Spend the day skydiving over the North Carolina coastline! We will provide transportation to Beaufort, NC. This is a 9,000 ft jump followed by a free fall and canopy flight. There is a 230 lb weight limit. This event is $250 for students.

Horseback Riding: Sunday, April 7th

Ready to try something new? Come with us to go horseback riding in Frisco, NC on the beautiful beaches of the Outer Banks! This is an all-day event with transportation provided. This event has a 200lb weight limit. This event is $150 for students.

You can register for these adventure trips and events and learn more on the CRW Member Portal at crwregistration.ecu.edu starting Tuesday, January 2, 2024! Students/members are allowed to bring a guest to most of these events or trips for a fee (varies by event), be sure to visit the CRW Member Portal or our Adventure Center for more information!
