OCTSA Guest Speakers

Alabama REACH and a New Degree Program

This October, we'll hear about two great programs provided here on campus!

The Alabama REACH Program serves as a resource hub to help students access the needed services in a supportive environment that allows students the freedom to pursue higher education and successfully matriculate and graduate from college. Shannon Hubbard is the director of REACH, has a bachelor's and master's degree in Social Work from UA, and won the Judy Bonner Presidential Medallion Prize in 2019.

New College is rolling out a new degree program, the Applied Liberal Arts and Sciences, BA, that has been designed for current UA students or those enrolled at UA within the last five academic years. Dr. Julia Cherry, director of New College, earned her bachelor's degree in Biology at Rhodes College and holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from UA.
