Relieving Principal's Message
This week and next week see Years 3 to 6 completing their Check In assessments. These assessments provide each teacher with valuable information to guide future learning. Thank you Mrs Whalan for co-ordinating this vital learning assessment tool.
Last week saw the commencement of the Year 6 to Year 7 high school transition to Ballina Coast High School. Year 6 students participated in various activities throughout the day which focused on communication, respect and teamwork. It also provided an opportunity for our transitioning students to become familiar with the high school staff. The next transition day is Thursday 24th October.
Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Year 6 students participated in the Gungalair Day-On Country high school transition day on Tuesday. We visited Angels Beach and Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre. This program promoted cultural and social support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who will be transitioning into Ballina Coast High School next year. Thank you to Mr Jonsson for driving the Ballina Public School bus for us on the day.
We are very excited to welcome our 2025 Kindergarten students to big school. We have had a visit from Little Jarjums and an upcoming visit from Rainbow Childcare Centre. Our first formal transition session is Term 4, Week 2, Friday 25th October. Please ensure that if you have a child starting school next year, that you have completed the online enrolment forms. If unsure, please contact the front office.
In Week 10, 5B and 5H will revisit River Street Preschool to help assist in running their Fundamental Movement Mini Athletics Day. Activities will be based around the skills of running, hopping, skipping, galloping, leaping, jumping, side sliding kicking and throwing. Year 5 students will be buddied up and will help their little buddy on the day.
As the weather is warming up, it is important that all students have a broad brimmed hat as well as a water bottle. Broad brimmed hats can be purchased from the front office for $8.50. Just a reminder that students are to wear full school uniform. Bike pants, active wear, brightly coloured jumpers and track suit pants are not part of our school uniform. If you require any assistance with uniforms, please contact the front office.
On Monday 23 September, we will be holding our PBL assembly for Term 3. If your child is receiving a PBL award, you will be notified by your child’s class teacher through Class Dojo next week.

Class KCP
KCP have been working on making patterns. We have been looking at AB patterns, AAB patterns and ABC patterns. Check out some of our patterned fences. First we made them using paddle pop sticks and then we coloured in the panels to match the sticks.
Class 3-4C
This term in Science, 3-4C has been learning about Food and Fibre Production. We have been fortunate enough to have Mrs. Allen contributing to our learning and engaging our students in some amazing cooking lessons. 3-4C would like to thank Mrs. Allen for all of her hard work and share with you photos of our delicious creations.
