Faubion Orchestra Updates Week of November 2

It has been a busy first few months of school. We have had a successful Beginner Demonstration Concert, Upper Level Solo Festival, All-Region Orchestra Results, Fundraiser, Bubble Truck Fun, Camerata Musical Performances, Honors Photoshoots and more! Many more events are coming up. Please read below for all of the details.

We would like all of our Beginning Orchestra students to arrive no later than 8 am on Friday, November 10 to practice with an upper level orchestra student as well as enjoy a donut breakfast. The orchestra door (door 5) will open by 7:45 am. This is a special time that will be meaningful for every student. Please mark your calendars and arrange transportation.

Orchestra movie night will be on Monday, November 13 after school until 5:45 pm in the auditorium. This is an optional (but fun!) event. Students will choose between 2 movies (rated G or PG only) and popcorn will be served. Please make sure students are picked up by 5:45 pm.

We have many chocolate dipped fortune cookies and sour worms/watermelon jacks leftover from our fundraiser that we are selling at half price (Worms were $2 a bag, now $1 and cookies were $1 each, now 50 cents). If you would like some for your family, please send money to school indicating how many of what and we will send the items home with your child. Great treats for kids and relatives for the holidays!

Our Winter Concert for all orchestras is coming up on Friday, December 1 in the Faubion Auditorium. Admission is free. Beginning Orchestra, Concertino Orchestra, and Honors will perform at 6 pm. Sinfonia, Camerata and Honors will perform at 7:30 pm. This is required and a summative for all students.

Upper Level Orchestra students performed at the MISD district solo festival on October 22 and had 110 superior ratings and 7 excellent ratings. In addition the following students were named an outstanding soloist: Justin Lee, Olivia Alejos, Mya Shirley, Ruben Solis, Brooke Aguillard, Ruben Solis, Garrett Machuca, McCoy Box, Krish Gupta, York Bryson, and Carrissa Chiu. Eleven of our upper level students also competed in the TMEA All-Region 25 auditions and seven of them made the orchestra. Students who made the Concert Orchestra include Justin Lee and Julianna Boldware. Lucas Hlavaty made the Sinfonia Orchestra and Evan Luna, Brooke Aguillard, Garrett Machuca and Ruben Solis made the Chamber Orchestra. Congratulations to all!
