Congratulations to all football and netball players coming second in both tournaments.

Wanted - shoe boxes

Pupils in Year 3 and 4 need a shoe box each as part of their DT project by next Friday. Please send in any unwanted shoe boxes. Thank you.

Harvest Service

Thank you to all who joined us for our Harvest Service on Tuesday. If you wish to make a donation to Feeding Bellies Not Bins (the Newtown Food Surplus initiative run by Cllr Jeremy Thorp on Tuesday in the Community Centre), cash can be donated in school or payments made through Parent Pay between now and half term.

Thank you to Anna Thomas (Reign's mum) for her nomination for parent governor. As the only nomination received, she is duly appointed to the position.

Friends of Forden - PTA

Upcoming Friends of Forden events:

  • Halloween Disco - Thursday 23rd October. Parents needed to help decorate the hall from 3pm. Donations of decorations / cakes please.
  • Next FoF meeting - Monday 3rd November 3:15pm in dosbarth Camlad to discuss Christmas events.
  • Christmas Fayre - unfortunately this event is cancelled as we cannot use the community centre

Primary School Admissions

The Primary School Admission Round for learners born between 01/09/2021 – 31/08/2022 opens on Wednesday 1 October 2025. Parents/Carers need to complete an online application at https://en.powys.gov.uk/article/1158/Applying-for-a-School-Place

Applications need to be made by the deadline of Thursday 15 January 2026.

Primary Common Offer Date is Thursday 16 April 2025.

Secondary School Admissions

The Secondary School Admission Round for learners born between 01/09/2014 – 31/08/2015 opened on Monday 1st September 2025. Parents/Carers need to complete an online application at https://en.powys.gov.uk/article/1158/Applying-for-a-School-Place

Applications need to be made by the deadline of Friday 31st October 2025.

Secondary Common Offer Date is Monday 2 March 2026.

Pears and Apples

Please help yourself to pears and apples after school each day - we have a bumper crop.

School Uniform

We have a large stock of second hand school uniform in the school library. Parents are welcome to donate / collect on any day before of after school.

School Times

Please note Breakfast Club runs from 7:30 - 8:40am. Pupils arriving before 8:40am will need to go to Breakfast Club. The gate is manned from 8:40-8:50am. School starts at 8:50am and pupils should be in school by this time.

Even though primary school meals are free to all pupils, if you register for Free School Meals you can help your school benefit from funding because you have registered.

Registering for Free School Meals might also qualify you for other help and assistance, including school uniform clothing grants

Who can register for Free School Meals?

To get free meals in Powys schools, the parents/carers must get one of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Job Seekers Allowance (Income Based)
  • If you are an Asylum Seeker getting support under the Immigration and Asylum Act.
  • State Pension Guaranteed Credit
  • Employment and Support Allowance - Income based
  • Child Tax Credit - as long as you are not getting an amount for childcare paid with your CTC, or getting Working Tax Credit. HM Revenue & Customs must also have worked out your household income as £16,190 a year or less.
  • Universal Credit - as long as your annual net earnings are £7400 or less
