Impressionism
In my page the theme that I chose was impressionism. This is a style of painting from the 19th century, made up of the artist's impression of the world, with unconventional colors found in traditional paintings. These paintings use small brush strokes that kind of give the impression of something, hence its name.
My impact statement is to show people how different views of the world see the beauty of things. It is so cool how beautiful it can be. To appreciate something off of its essence rather than its literal physical appearance. For me impressionism is something very close to my heart, it touches my soul and emotion, and I want people to see those beautiful paintings like I do.
Garden at Arles, -Vincent Van Gogh
This piece I chose because I related to the sentiment that Van Gogh had when he painted it. Through a context that we know of the story behind this, I can see through this painting that he was most likely newly arrived in this place, he was isolated and alone. Shy and did not speak to anyone, but the garden resonated with him. He found it beautiful and decided to paint it, once he had left everyone. You can feel a sense of loneliness but comfort through this piece.
It has a very distinctive form original to Van Gogh, and it is still very evident until today, that if we look at a painting we can clearly tell it is his.
Poppy Fields near Argenteuil, -Claude Monet 1875
I chose this art piece because of the physical presence it portrays in itself, especially the weather. You can feel from the painting that it was a windy day, you can see the clouds cover most of the field but in the distance a ray of sunlight is present, far far away. The clouds are broken down and poppies scratch your legs as you walk through them.
The Monet family in their garden, by Edouard Manet, 1874
This painting feels like the most familiar day in your life. Like you woke up early in the morning to have an amazing breakfast. Had a mostly productive day for yourself and when noon came, it was time to lay down and enjoy your family since the day was perfect. It feels like a trouble-less afternoon when you decided life was the best thing to happen to you, when you thanked God for all the things you have. Family is connected with each other and in some hours you know that supper will be your night comfort. This tells me that humans were born with someone to take care of them, then later in life they become the caregivers, and how the only purpose of human life is to care, and to be cared for.
