Bird's Eye View

Best Photography - Atlanta Falcons

OVERVIEW

At Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we capture the pinnacle of an Atlanta Falcons game day from one of the highest vantage points in the NFL. Few teams can shoot from atop their own stadium – and none have integrated an overhead angle into their brand presence in the way that we have.

Playing on Sundays at Mercedes-Benz Stadium has granted our photography team the privilege of shooting from one of — if not the — most unique perspectives. It is not as simple as it sounds, to go up to the roof on game day and hope for a good shot. With the proper amount of planning and significant time studying the plethora of aspects and advantages on the roof, we have been able to showcase a football game from an unthinkable peak. Additionally, and uniquely to our peers, we have leveraged our Bird’s Eye View perspective as a staple in our Atlanta Falcons brand. These photos have gone beyond spectacle and have been used in various mediums of the Falcons’ digital presence, like graphics, sponsored photo galleries, web page design, and more. While some teams may integrate unique angles here and there, we have used our overhead photography angle as a Falcons signature to set us apart from other teams within the league.

Artistry is about innovation and pushing creative boundaries. We are doing just that by reaching new heights within our visual storytelling and Atlanta Falcons brand identity.

UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE

Not many teams have a stadium like ours, and we work to make use of every inch of the space given, all the way up to the rooftop.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium's roof access was certainly not built with the intent of being a unique angle for photographers to shoot from, but our team has spent significant time studying and mastering the best angles and methods of shooting from this aerial angle. Video above: In 2025, we created a content piece to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at how their favorite bird's eye view photos are captured. As most photographers will understand, there is a lot of luck involved in capturing sports. However, we maximize our preparedness and planning to be ready for every moment on game day. Through the placement of remote cameras, correct positioning for various angles on the roof and using the roof architecture to shoot through, we capitalize on the privilege of this unique perspective and push its creative capabilities to the highest bar.

REIMAGINING THE MUNDANE

A lot of what we capture is based on routine. Every game includes the National Anthem, coin tosses, team runouts, etc. Not only does shooting from the roof require the lack of fearing heights, but it also requires a creative eye. With our roof angle, we strive to capture these routine aspects of game day in an innovative through an innovative lens that most audiences do not usually see it through.

BRAND ELEVATION

SIDE-BY-SIDE EXAMPLES OF IN-GAME UTILIZATION

Bird's Eye View is more than a "cool and unique photography angle," it has become a part of the Atlanta Falcons brand identity. With full credit to our talented graphic design team, our overhead photography has been taken to the next level and become our own unique signature that stands out within the pool of 31 other NFL teams. While there may be others capturing the game of football through additive, different angles, we are singular in making it our statement in the league. Our Bird's Eye View angle and its identity was born through high-level collaboration within our entire digital team. We capture these images not only for game coverage, but also for the continuous elevation and strengthening of our brand.

WEEKLY SPONSORED PHOTO GALLERIES

Bird's Eye View has captured the eye of sponsors for a routine photo gallery on the Atlanta Falcons Website

Our overhead angle has not only been beloved by our fans, but it has also reached a greater interest of our partner Sony. Our photo team uses Sony's digital cameras every game and we have worked with their team to sponsor a photo gallery series on our website. On Tuesday's after every home game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we pull together our favorite shots from the roof. These photos are then published to our website in a gallery, with social media promotions as well, to highlight this beloved angle of the game.

FROM THE HIGHEST OF HEIGHTS

From the field to the rooftop perch of Mercedes-Benz Stadium measures to be about 325 feet. One of its features, is the first-of-its-kind, 360-degree LED stadium display called the Halo Board. Along with the theme of maximizing our roof's unique capabilities, we often work with our stadium production team to capture the display to add a signature look to our rooftop photos. The Halo Board is equivalent in length to three football fields and the creative look it adds to our photos is just as colossal.

Rooftop moments have become a signature look for the Falcons on both the photo and video side, thanks to the unique design of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

While our access to this elevated perspective is already unique, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Oculus rooftop will open on occasion. When this happens, the angle allows for a larger-than-life view of the game-day atmosphere in Atlanta. On the left, a view captured before the start of our Monday night football game against the Buffalo Bills in October 2025.

TO THE DEEPEST OF DEPTHS

Our rooftop photography angle allows for a variation of storytelling on game days. Almost like it is catered for audiences that enjoy the strategic depths within the game of football, our photos from above show the game in all its beauty through an intuitive lens.

Some fans have grown to describe this angle as "video-game-like." Across the buildup of meticulously drawn plays, the lengths of athleticism achieved and the grandiose celebrations displayed, this photo angle pushes the boundaries when it comes to storytelling and offers more footnotes to the game than images captured from the field-level.
