Why this project?
Since I was young, I have been passionate about dogs, specifically rescue dogs. With so many dogs filling the shelters, my urge to make a positive impact on their lives increases every day. This passion project is a chance to offer exposure to rescue dogs in these shelters.
The Goal
Senior dogs are less likely to be adopted at the shelter than puppies. By getting more eyes on these older pups, their chance of finding their forever home only increases. By displaying these dogs as personable, adopters are likely to connect with them and ultimately adopt them!
The “presidential campaign” will focus primarily on senior dogs and dogs who have been at the shelter the longest. In other words, this campaign is for dogs who do not have the highest probability of being adopted. The goal is to spotlight the adoptable dogs in a comedic yet positive light and hopefully, through this project, I can help find these animals their forever homes.
I wanted to keep the focus of my project on adoptable dogs in San Jose that need rescue immediately. On the ACS Pet Compass the dogs in the most dire need of help were Chris (German Sheppard), Duncan (German Shappard mix), and Arrow (Pitbull). These dogs are all labeled in need of immediate rescuing.
Using my own dog as an example I created a template.
Using the initial template I input the images of Chris (left), Duncan (middle), and Arrow (right).
The Candidates
These graphics can be used for further promo such as stickers and T-shirts.
Social Media
I began an Instagram titled San_Jose_Presidential_Pups. By generating traction on the page more eyes are seeing these dogs.
