Practical Life

Penny polishing

The direct aims of this work are OCCI (order, concentration, coordination and independence).

Sensorial

Constructive triangle boxes- Rectangular box

Here the child forms a square, rectangle, parallelogram, rhombus and trapezoid using constructive triangles. This work helps the child to develop the visual discrimination of plane forms and prepare the child for mathematics in the area of geometry.

Math

Addition with the bank

The child develops the concept of addition, understands the visual representation of the meaning of addition, learns the meaning of mathematical terms such as plus, equal, addends, sum, etc. Also reinforces understanding of numbers and their place value.

Hanging bead stair

One set of colored bead bars from one to nine and a wooden frame is used to hang the bead bars and on a wooden bar 0-9 numbers are written. Working with this work the child reinforces knowledge of quantity of numbers zero to nine, learns the names of the numbers, gains the knowledge of the relationship between numbers zero to nine.

Language

Beginning sounds

Here the child uses the orange group of beginning sounds. The picture cards that start with the beginning sound are used. Working with this work the child increases the knowledge of beginning sounds, enrich the vocabulary and prepare for reading.

Science

Reptiles / Dinosaurs

Here the child put together the parts of a dinosaur using the picture cards. The aim of this work is to develop of an appreciation for animals of the past. Also the child learns the names of the dinosaurs.

Geography

Land and water form

The materials are land and water form nomenclature cards. Here the child learns the names of the land and water forms chain of lakes and archipelago and increases the understanding of what the land and water forms represent.

Peace lesson for Montessori education week

The children in Magnolia room learned about Dr. Maria Montessori and colored a portrait of her. Also, they learned about the characteristics of a peaceful person and colored the peace sign.

We had a presentation on light and shadow for the entire school. Children had an opportunity to participate in those science activities. They had a good time.
