PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Bluejay Family, It is hard to believe that today is Super Bowl Sunday, and we are already heading into the excitement of Mardi Gras Expo Week! There is certainly a lot of energy and anticipation on campus as we prepare for a fun and festive week together. As a reminder, the schedule for Mardi Gras Expo Week was shared some time ago. Please be sure to read the details below carefully, as they include important information about dress days, activities, and expectations for the week. If you have any specific questions, your child’s teacher is always the first point of contact. While this is a week filled with celebration, it is still a full week of learning at St. Cecilia. We ask that students remain in attendance each day and continue to come ready to learn, grow, and participate fully in all that is planned. Today’s Gospel reminds us of our call not just to celebrate, but to witness. Jesus tells us, “You are the light of the world… your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father” (Matthew 5:13–16). May our joy, kindness, and spirit of community be a light to one another this week. Grace & Peace, Erin B. Henry Principal

“'Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.'” — Matthew 5:9

important reminders for all familes

  • Use the horseshoe in car line. Don't skip it, you never know when someone is waiting just around the corner and you are cutting them off.
  • Keep the left lane of carline clear. Thank you to those who continue to wait at the corner stop sign on Railroad Avenue. This allows our faculty and staff time to park before carline begins. Once duty teachers come out, they will wave you forward. Please do not pull up before carline begins.
  • Take a right when exiting car line onto Main Street. If the crossing guard is present, left turns are not allowed.
  • Pay your lunch bill. Please check your balance and make payments here.
  • Outerwear.  Coats, Sweaters, sweatshirts, vests, and fleece or nylon jackets should be solid navy only with or without minor white or grey trim and with or without an approved SCS logo. Absolutely no logo/brand/writing other than SCS. All Bluejay Club outerwear is allowed. Leg-warmers & leggings are NOT allowed. No personal monograms are allowed.

Lent Pray40: The Return - This series is for the adults. Join Jonathan Roumie, Fr. Mike Schmitz, Mark Wahlberg, Chris Pratt, Sister Miriam, and more this Lent for a journey back home to the Father. We’ll see how Dostoevsky’s famous novel brings the Parable of the Prodigal Son to life like never before, showing us how we’re all farther from God than we need to be. The good news is God is waiting for us each with open arms, running out to meet us while we are still a long way off. We’ll step into the lives of the characters together and discover the ways their struggles and brokenness mirror our own. We’ll let go of what holds us back, return home to the Lord, and let Him send us out as His hands and feet.

Letter from the Athletic Director

Dear Blue Jays, It was another exciting week for St. Cecilia Athletics, highlighted by strong performances on the court and outstanding community support. As we look ahead, championship tournaments are upon us and our spring sports season is officially getting underway. 🏀 Last Week’s Highlights Our boys and girls basketball teams were in action throughout the week and represented St. Cecilia with great effort and sportsmanship.

  • 8th Grade Night (Wednesday): Wednesday night was a special celebration as we honored our 8th grade athletes. The gym was filled with energy thanks to a fantastic turnout from our school community. Our 8th graders were supported in a big way, and the night featured some amazing plays and memorable moments on the court.
  • 5th–7th Grade Boys Basketball (Thursday): Thursday evening saw our 5th–7th grade boys basketball teams take the floor. The 6th and 7th grade teams both earned victories, continuing their seasons. Once again, we were grateful for another great crowd that brought enthusiasm and encouragement to our athletes.

🏆 Looking Ahead: This Week in Athletics

  • End-of-Season Championship Tournaments: All basketball teams will begin their end-of-season championship tournaments this week. Best of luck to all of our athletes as they compete and finish the season strong.
  • Spring Sports Begin: We officially kick off the spring sports season with baseball and softball practices starting this week. Athletes and families should be on the lookout for uniform pickups during practices in the coming days.
  • More to Come: Additional communication will be sent in the coming weeks regarding tennis, track and field, swimming, and golf, as those seasons will begin later this spring.

Thank you for your continued support of St. Cecilia Athletics. The energy in the stands and encouragement for our student-athletes make a lasting impact. Let’s keep the momentum going as we head into tournament play and a new spring season. Geaux Blue Jays! 💙🐦
