Let's stay connected ...
If you need to call in your student's absence, please use our 24-hour attendance line: 586-797-3190.
Absences not called in by a parent/guardian are considered "UNEXCUSED." Repeated unexcused absences will result in additional consequences.
Parents, please do not unsubscribe from any UCS emails. If you do, it will automatically block you from our mailing list and prevent you from receiving GLK-UAIS communications as well.
Parents, just a reminder that you must have a Parental PowerSchool Account to view report cards. Access to the report cards will not be available through the PowerSchool app. The report cards are available by logging into your account through your favorite browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.). We strongly encourage you to make sure you can access your account through a web browser. If you need technical assistance, please contact our school office. You must have a PowerSchool account to see the report card. You can start with the guide below:
UCS School Policy and Student Handbook
I've had an opportunity to meet with the freshmen and sophomores to highlight important policies and expectations from our Student Handbook. I encourage all students to review the Handbook and familiarize themselves with our safety and security protocols, the UCS dress code, and attendance policy. Parking Lot Safety/Parent Drop off Reminder
I want to remind everyone that student and staff safety are always our top priority. Please slow down when entering and exiting our parking lot (both student and parent drivers). While we have staff available to ensure safety and assist with traffic flow, I've witnessed a couple of close calls. This will become increasingly problematic as the seasons change and it is dark during morning drop off. Please yield to pedestrians and students riding bikes. We all understand the morning and after-school rush, but an accident will slow things down and hinder your day even more.
We all recognize that morning drop-off time can lead to a busy and hectic morning. Parking lot safety is essential at GLK-UAIS, especially with student drivers, parents, and buses all sharing the same space. When entering the parking lot, drivers must reduce their speed, stay alert, and always yield to pedestrians. The drop-off lane at the rear of the building is for quick drop-offs only. Please do not park or leave your vehicle unattended in this area. We must keep traffic moving safely and efficiently. The map below should help ease confusion for parents dropping off students near Door 8. With everyone’s cooperation, we can ensure a safe environment for all students during arrival and dismissal times.
PARENT DROP-OFF: Below are a few reminders of some key drop-off procedures that will help with a smooth process in the morning. 1. Follow directions given by the teacher attendants in the parking lot. They will indicate when you should move forward or stop. 2. Do not pass cars in the drop-off line. This is to ensure the safety of everyone in the parking lot. 3. Pull all the way forward to the car in front of you at drop-off. This allows for more students to be dropped off at a single time. 4. If the student you are dropping off has a lot of items to carry in, pull into an open parking spot so they can take the time to gather their stuff from the vehicle. 5. Doors close out back at 7:15 am. As the weather deteriorates, be sure to leave with enough time to drop your student off prior to door closure. Students who arrive after the doors are closed must enter through the front of the building.
As always, we appreciate your cooperation and support!
Parking Permits
Seniors and juniors...you MUST have a current parking permit if you are driving and parking on school grounds. Please review the parking policy, complete the parking application and agreement form, and pay the necessary fees. Starting Monday, September 8th, we will begin checking student cars for a valid parking permit. If you do not have a current parking permit, your vehicle will be stickered, and you will face additional disciplinary action.
The permit fee can be paid via PaySchools You MUST use your district-issued laptop to access the application. Click here for the application: PARKING APPLICATION

Here are a few reminders for our Phoenix families:
- Morning entry/arrival time for students is 7:00 am.
- Breakfast is served daily from 7:00-7:15
- Following dismissal at 2:09, students must exit the building OR should be in a staff-supervised activity/club.
- Our office closes at 3:30 pm daily.

To ensure smooth communication and the most expeditious response, parents and students should refer to our Student Support Matrix if they have a concern that needs to be addressed by someone on our staff. Click the button below to access the student support matrix flow chart.
Scheduled meetings
If you need to meet with the principal, counselor, or IB Coordinator, please call the main office or email the appropriate person to set up a meeting date and time. No drop-in meetings, please! Your time is valuable. You may show up at a time when we are in other meetings or out of the building. A scheduled meeting will ensure we are available to address your concerns.
All GLK-UAIS students are required to wear their school ID with a lanyard daily. The ID must be visible, cannot be defaced and must be for the current school year. The first ID and lanyard are free. Replacement costs are $5 and $1, respectively. Help us keep our school safe and avoid extra fees and disciplinary issues....WEAR YOUR ID!!
