WAYS TO SUPPORT
Below are a few popular gift methods that can be used to help maximize your investment in this project.
Appreciated Securities - Securities and mutual funds that have increased in value and been held for more than one year are one of the most popular assets to use when making a gift. They offer the possibility to avoid capital gains tax liabilities while being eligible for a charitable income tax deduction for the current market value of the securities.
IRA Distribution - We accept charitable IRA rollovers from donors aged 70½ or older with qualifying IRAs. If over 70½, you can give up to $100,000 annually from a qualifying IRA directly to Davidson. The transfer is excluded from your taxable income and can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distribution.
Real Estate - When you give Davidson appreciated property you have held longer than one year, you may qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction for the market value of the property and can avoid paying capital gains tax. Many supporters have identified rarely used properties as an advantageous asset for gifting.
Planned Giving - Other thoughtful strategies may allow you to receive lifetime income in return for your gift, such as a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust. Or the option to make a commitment to be paid in the future, such as a bequest or retirement account beneficiary designation, may help you optimize your level of support. Available naming opportunities from donors aged 60 or older may be partially funded with a bequest or retirement account designation.
