Message from Caroline Broadhead, Principal
As we come to the end of another really busy and successful half term, it is an absolute pleasure to look back and reflect on all that we have achieved together and to thank you for your continued support.
Since returning to school in September, the term has been packed full of exciting learning opportunities, endless trips, and activities that the children have embraced with enthusiasm and hard work. From their participation in school clubs to their engagement during trips, our pupils have made the most of everything on offer to them and have represented Quay Academy admirably.
The biggest thank you goes to all who supported us at our Christmas Fair and Children in Need events. Your overwhelming generosity and involvement made these occasions a fantastic success and has helped to create a real sense of community within our school.
As we prepare for the festive break, I’d like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year. We look forward to another fantastic term in January, packed full of more exciting learning and events.
YOU SAID, WE DID!
Thank you for taking part in the Quay Academy Parent Survey. We had so many wonderful responses and also a few issues communicated to think about too. After listening to your parent voice, we have tried to accommodate, alter and switch things around, where possible.
Clubs: A wider range of clubs across the school is positive, but sometimes the days are not convenient or clash. From January, we have tried to make sure there is still a wide variety of clubs available, but also across the week too.
School trip: A good range of trips for all year groups. You would like for more updates. We will endeavor to use all of our social media platforms including MCAS to keep you as updated as possible as the trips are happening. We will also make sure you have plenty of notice and details of all upcoming trips for your children.
Exciting Trips this Term
This term, Quay Academy has offered students a range of exciting and enriching trips that have expanded their horizons and created lasting memories. Here's a roundup of where we've been:
Year 6 Residential at High Adventure
Our Year 6 pupils kicked off their term in with an incredible residential at High Adventure. Over several days, they tackled thrilling outdoor activities such as climbing, canoeing, and orienteering. This experience not only fostered teamwork and resilience but also gave pupils the chance to challenge themselves and build confidence in a supportive environment.
Year 5 Trip to London
Year 5 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable trip to London, exploring the vibrant culture and history of the capital city. Highlights included visiting iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, and The London Eye. The trip also included a visit to a world-class museum, where students deepened their understanding of subjects they’ve been studying in school.
Years 3: Ambassadors of Bridlington at The Spa
Year 3 students proudly represented Quay Academy as Ambassadors of Bridlington during their trip to The Spa. They learned about the local area’s history, culture, and how to be proud advocates for their community. The day was filled with engaging activities, and the students left inspired and eager to share what they had learned with others.
Year 3 and 4 Christmas Trip to Beverley Minster
To celebrate the festive season, Years 3 and 4 visited the beautiful Beverley Minster for a special Christmas event. The trip included a guided tour of the historic minster, festive storytelling, and hands-on crafts. Students marveled at the stunning architecture while reflecting on the meaning of Christmas.
Years 1 and 2 Christmas Party Trip to Hull
Our youngest students in Years 1 and 2 had a fantastic time on their Christmas party trip to Hull. The day was packed with fun, including a festive performance and party games that brought smiles to everyone’s faces. It was a perfect way to get into the festive spirit with joy and excitement.
These trips have offered invaluable learning experiences and memories that will stay with our Quay pupils for years to come. We’re so proud of how they represented Quay Academy during these adventures and can’t wait to see where the next term will take us!
Year 1 and 2 Nativity
This term, our Year 1 and 2 pupils put on a wonderful nativity performance for their parents and families. The children worked incredibly hard to learn their lines, perfect their acting, and sing beautifully, including some stunning solo performances that truly showcased their confidence and talent.
The event was a heartwarming celebration of the festive season, and the enthusiasm and joy from the children were infectious. We want to extend a huge thank you to all the parents and families who attended and supported the children. Your encouragement and presence made the performance even more special.
Well done to our Year 1 and 2 pupils for their fantastic effort and to everyone who helped make this nativity a success!
The Bridlington Lions Roar Project
This term, Quay Academy partnered with The Bridlington Lions on an exciting project to promote sustainability and innovation. Together, students were challenged to invent a sustainable product that could help address environmental issues. With guidance and support from The Bridlington Lions, the pupils came up with creative and thoughtful ideas, which they developed into prototypes. The project culminated in a showcase event where the students proudly presented their inventions to the whole school. This collaboration not only highlighted the importance of sustainability but also inspired our pupils to think critically and creatively about the future of our planet.

The competition is open to all of the schools in our town and we could not be prouder that the winner was one of our own. Another of our pupils recieved a highly commended award. We were very lucky to have a personal visit from the Mayor to present the girls with their prizes in school.
EYFS Christmas Sing - A Festive Celebration!
We were thrilled to welcome so many parents, carers, and family members to our EYFS Christmas Sing this week. The children brought the magic of the season to life with their wonderful costumes, cheerful voices, and infectious enthusiasm.
It was heartwarming to see every child singing their hearts out and confidently taking part in this special celebration. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the joy they shared with everyone. Their performances were a true reflection of the spirit of Christmas and the creativity we nurture here at Quay Academy.
Thank you to all who attended and supported the children – your encouragement means so much to them and to us.
