Over the past 2 years, Perennial Playground has blossomed from its seed beds. Trials & tribulations transformed it into an enchanting oasis of resilience & renewal. As a new season dawns, we return to our fertile grounds of imagination to unveil the next bursting chapter!
Last year’s colorful climbing petals have been fortified & grown stronger. Tall illuminating stamens emerged, glowing over the raised center ovary. Perimeter foliage has opened into fuzzy kisses of floral swings, inviting you to swing into the embrace of joy.
This celebrates our resilience, turning adversity into the extraordinary. Like the flowers that bud, bloom, & eventually fade, we too experience cycles of renewal. Visitors here can sit, climb, swing, observe, reflect - adding their own soulful fertilizer to this Perennial garden.
Gloria Lamb, is part of the LA artist collective, The GASS Co, which brought “Oh, Crap!” to BRC in 2018. Gloria started Burning in 2007. Working by day as a Designer and Art Director for variety television and live events, her skills carry over as a BRC installation artist & theme camp creator. Her off-playa talents and enthusiasm for Black Rock City earned her a position as one of the Los Angeles Regional Contacts from 2013-2019. Her glowing smile & galaxy-colored hair have also been seen fire dancing in the Great Circle on many a burn night.
We will lovingly accept both monetary and appropriate material donations. Follow the DONATE MATERIALS button for a list of items. We have chosen not to utilize crowdsourcing until subsequent years. In the meantime, direct monetary donations are always welcome via button below.
Interested in volunteering? We're always interested in enthusiastic additions to our hive! There will be future opportunities locally in Agua Dulce (40 min north of Los Angeles), at Black Rock City, as well as tasks that can be done remotely. Many of our helper bees also camp with us at our Art Support Camp, The GASS Co. If you signed up to volunteer pre-pandemic and are still interested, we ask that you re-fill out the volunteer form, as we know life has changed for most of us. Fill out the form AND drop us an email today!

As this Perennial returns each year, it will continue to bloom as it evolves. It will become a large flower that's also a playground! This early concept video from 2020 shows what it might look like several years from now, with Burners helping to pollinate it along the way.
