KRITHI - Anthayu Neeve
This krithi by the prolific composer Sri. Gopaalakrishna Bhaaratiyaar (1810-1896), who was a contemporary of Tyagaraja, has his mudra of Gopaladasa in it. This Thamizh krithi in praise of Shiva, the lord of the universe (“Jagannatha”), extols the virtues of the God who made the Sanaka sages happy (“Sanakaadiyargal Magizhum”) and requests the lord of Chidambaram to remove the vacillations of the mind (“Thollai vinai chanchalamum thaane, illai yendru arul chey Cheemane”).

One of Tyagaraja Swami’s most famous compositions, where he entreats his Lord Rama to grant (mosaga) him wisdom (gnaana) and requests his Lord “Cant you initiate me (“Vaaramu taanane”) into the ultimate advaithic doctrine so that I may realize and experience the unity of the Supreme Paramaatmaa (“Paramaatmudu”) and the individual Jeevatma (“Jeevaatmudu”); and identify myself with the entire creation?
KRITHI - Kaarmukhil varnante thiruvudal
A beautiful traditional Malayalam composition that has been set to tune by Ganeshji, elaborately describes a longing to view the darling visual of Balagopala and his childhood antics. The lyrics have the singer praying for the Lord’s darshan in the form of a child. It is typically sung during Sandhya namam (evening prayers), in praise of Krishna, the main deity of Guruvayoor.
KRITHI - O Rama ni namamu emi ruchi ra
Bhadrachala Ramadas, a saint composer of the 17th century has written this krithi in praise of Lord Rama. Here he elaborates on the sweet taste of repeated chanting of the Lord’s name likening the taste to the fruit juices of bananas and dates. “Ni naamamu emi ruchira”.
