Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a very busy week at Ysgol Tir Morfa, with everyone settling back into the new term so well. A quick reminder that Mrs Hill will be holding a Families Together meeting in Brews next Tuesday at 10am – all families are very welcome to attend. As you are aware, we have our Estyn Inspection taking place next week, from Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st January. We are very much looking forward to celebrating our wonderful school. Parents are warmly invited to attend a meeting with the Inspectors on Monday at 2.30pm in the school hall on the Ffordd Derwen site. If you are attending and collecting your child, they will be supervised until the end of the meeting, so please don't worry. Thank you, as always for your continued support
Kind regards,
Susan H. Roberts

Attendance Information for Parents and Carers
As part of our continued focus on attendance this year, we have decided to share attendance data regularly with parents and carers through our newsletter. Attendance remains one of our school priorities, and we believe that sharing this information helps keep everyone informed and working together to support our pupils. In Wales, the Welsh Government defines good attendance as 95% or above. Attendance of 90% or below is classed as persistent absence. These benchmarks are used nationally across schools in Wales. We would like to reassure families that we fully recognise that many pupils at YTM have significant health or medical needs which may make it difficult, or sometimes impossible, to meet these targets. As a school, we understand this and want to be very clear that no parent or carer should feel pressured or judged where absences are due to genuine health-related reasons. Our intention in sharing attendance data is simply to ensure transparency and awareness of our overall school attendance and the expectations placed upon us as a school. We value our strong partnership with families and appreciate your continued support in helping pupils attend whenever they are able to do so. If you would like to discuss attendance in relation to your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school - we are always happy to work together to provide the best possible support.
