Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year to you and your families. I do hope you were able to enjoy the Christmas break together and were able to celebrate with your families, helping you recharge for the new year. The children have certainly come back, from the 2 week break, in a positive and cooperative manner and have generally settled quickly into their school routines.
For many of our learners this is a significant challenge and they have coped well, with high levels of attendance, (despite the challenges the wintry weather has brought), which bodes well for the new term. The staff have certainly come back feeling energised and ready for the rigours of the spring term.
Thank you to all parents for having your child ready for School each day and for reinforcing our expectations and standards, which certainly helps us to support each child in School. I am confident that with your ongoing support that we can continue to make sure SJV is one of the very best SEND schools in the north west. Thanks for your ongoing support.
The new term will bring some challenges for us all in school, but we are ready. On the 21st and 22nd January we will welcome the National Autistic Society into school to (hopefully) reaccredit the school as a beacon of excellent autistic practice. We will be sending home their questionnaires next week for parents to complete. Please make every attempt to return these. Additionally, at the end of the term we will move into the first new building of the School Rebuilding Project; an exciting time with lots of preparation for the move required up to April, when the building will be handed over. We will continue to keep you informed of all developments.
If you have any queries or concerns please contact the Admin team, who will direct you to the right person, who will be able to return your call.
Very best wishes for the weekend.
Mr A Moloney, Headteacher
NEW BUILD INFORMATION
We have now been given a provisional date for the handover of the new build to the school, which will be during the Easter Holidays, 14th April 2025.
We will need to plan with the builders, Kier Construction, on how we will manage this move and it is highly likely that we will need the days after the published Easter break, (which is Friday 4th April to Monday 21st April), to manage the move. That will mean that all pupils will not be able to return to school after the Easter break until Monday 28th April 2025. We are writing to inform parents of these dates, which I will confirm officially with you at the start of the spring term, in January 2025. If you have any concerns with these plans please do let us know.

Allergies
Please be aware that we have a number of pupils in school with severe nut allergies. To reduce the risk of exposure for these young people, we aim to keep the school nut free. In order to support us with this we kindly ask that you:
- Do not give children nuts or nut products in their packed lunches.
- Do not give nuts, nut products or snacks/bars containing nuts for break time snacks.
- Do not send cakes or food items, containing nuts, in to school for birthday celebrations, cake sales or events.
Thank you for your support.

Zones of Regulation Parent Course
Our new online course for Parents and Carers is now available. The online course will run over ten weeks and each short module will be sent out every Friday via email, it can also be accessed via our website: Training for parents & carers. This course will introduce to you the ten concepts of the Zones of Regulation. The aim is to encourage the consistent use of language at school and at home to help regulate your child/young person's emotions and behaviours. I will set activities for you to do at home and introduce some strategies for you to use. If you would like some more information about this course, please contact the school office.

Happy New Year! Its 2025 and I'm so glad to be back at SJV at the start of a new year, filled with fresh opportunities. I hope you all enjoy every day of the New Year and seek blessings from God. My wish for you all is that God lives in your heart always.
Our Chaplaincy Team are starting to look at Lent, in terms of spirituality, kind acts, CAFOD and national campaigns like 'Si'- LENT'. It's always a busy time for us at SJV and we like to be well prepared.
In RE this week and in Mr Moloney's assemblies we have of course been looking at the Epiphany and the importance of the Three Wise Men and the meaning behind the gifts that were given.
We are looking forward to 2025 in SJV and all the wonderful achievements that our students will make this year as we continue to grow and develop together.

Poetry Corner
Poetry gives us the ability to talk about history in an emotional way. This week we celebrate our poet of the week, Dylan in Class 6, with his wonderful poem and epitaph for Mathematician and Manchester hero Alan Turing. Turing's ground breaking work at Bletchley Park during the Second World War helped break the German Enigma Code, shortening the war by an estimated 4 years and saving millions of lives. To read more about Alan's life and work please follow the link below, but in many ways Dylan's amazing poem says it all. Well done Dylan!
