The Center for Innovative and Transformative Instruction (CITI) Faculty Fellows Program is designed for WSSU faculty to serve in the discipline of faculty development, teaching and learning methodologies, pedagogical leadership, digital and technological innovation. The ideal CITI Faculty Fellow must have an interest in faculty development, teaching, learning, online instruction, digital literacy, technology integration, and learning new innovations in collegiate instruction. The ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, a record of effective teaching, evidence of coaching and mentoring, and demonstrated strategic thinking relevant to assisting other faculty with professional development.
A CITI Faculty Fellow will serve CITI for one academic year and will receive an assigned specific project to lead a project assigned by the CITI team and based on the instructional needs for the academic year. The assigned project will align with the WSSU Strategic Plan and will support a current project in CITI and/or will support a project assigned by the Office of the Provost.
Application requirements include the following:
- Completed application,
- Copy of a course syllabus,
- One recommendation letter from the department chair, associate dean, or dean
- Statement of your philosophy of teaching.
Selection Process
All WSSU faculty can apply to serve as a CITI Faculty Fellow. Adjunct faculty are also eligible as long as their schedule allows. The CITI Faculty Fellow Program is not open to staff positions.
CITI Fellows are selected by the CITI Team and CITI Advisory Board based on responses to this application and which applicants can contribute to future CITI Projects which will need additional support and leadership.
Timeline:
- Send announcement and application form to faculty-March 1, 2025
- Applications due back to CITI- March 31, 2025
- Select Fellows March 31- April 10, 2025
- Notify Fellows by April 15, 2025
CITI Faculty Fellows are Paid a Stipend each semester
Contingent on funding, a stipend for serving as a CITI Faculty Fellow is paid twice an academic year:
- Fall- December
- Spring- May
Stipend amount is determined by the Office of the Provost.
CITI Fellows do not receive a course release for serving. This role is in addition to your assigned teaching load.

How much time each week will I need to invest as a CITI Fellow? The average is 5-7 hours which includes CITI meetings, any workshop facilitation, or workshop prep.
Is there a stipend for being a CITI Fellow? Yes, contingent on Title III funding, CITI Fellows are paid a stipend amount. Stipend amounts are determined by the Office of the Provost.
How are CITI Fellows selected? CITI Fellows are selected by CITI Team members and a selection of CITI Advisory Board Members.
