RELLIS Grad Receives Chancellor's Award

Virginia Pederson '25, a recent health psychology graduate was one of the first students to receive the new Chancellor’s Award for students at RELLIS. The campus in Bryan, TX is named for the six Texas A&M University System core values of Respect, Excellence, Leadership, Loyalty, Integrity and Selfless Service (RELLIS).

“To be honored for my hard work was one of the highest points of my undergraduate career. Absolute gratitude is the only way I can describe how it felt in that moment,” Pederson said. She will continue her educational journey as a Javelina in August, studying to become a social worker. To read more of her story, tap the button below.

Plan to See the Centennial Exhibit

Saturday, June 7, the Conner Museum celebrated the official opening of Javelina Heritage: A Century of Memories, an exhibit honoring the university’s Centennial. Visitors enjoyed a tour of the university’s 100-year legacy through photos, memorabilia, clothing and more. The exhibit will remain open through September 15, 2026.

Javelina Alumna in the Spotlight

Beverly DeLeon '96, '02 is a Javelina making a global impact. Beverly's journey began through the Upward Bound program in 1992. "I don't think I would've gotten a college degree without their help," she reflects. "They were super instrumental in my education."

Her last semester as an undergrad, Beverly took an intro course for Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSDO) and was immediately captivated. After earning her Bachelor's in Spanish and working in Houston as a medical translator for a few years, she returned to enroll in the CSDO graduate program.

Today, Beverly has a career she loves as a Speech Language Pathologist at PAM Health of San Antonio. She works with patients of all ages on their speech and swallowing; from preemies to centenarians. Houston-Area Engineers: Wear Your Blue & Gold on the Green

Engineering alumni will be gathering Monday, September 8 for a golf tournament at Willow Fork Country Club in Katy. All proceeds will benefit the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering.
