A Night with Friends

It all started on a game night with friends. Someone suggested cocktails, and suddenly, I was the ‘bartender.’ I stood in my kitchen, surrounded by bottles of liquor, random mixers, and a phone screen full of complicated recipes. The pressure of getting it right made me second-guess every pour. At that moment, I thought—why isn’t there an easier way?"

Cocktail Recipe Card Deck

The product helps guide novice drink enthusiasts towards an enjoyable cocktail-making experience through clear, visually appealing instructions. This deck of cards lets consumers focus on having fun with their friends and family while improving their cocktail-making craft.

Cocktail enthusiasts need help in guidance for making drinks because they lack both the knowledge and necessary steps for crafting them. The question I posed in response to this situation was 'How might we guide a person interested in crafting drinks with recipes that are more engaging?'

First Competition: Cocktail Recipe Books

One competitor to Savor Shakers is the traditional cocktail recipe book. These books tend to rely on the consumer to have a good understanding of what it takes to be in the cocktail-making process. They are, for the most part, text-heavy and very detailed in descriptions of drinks, their history, the instruments used, etc.

The publishers of these recipe books such as 'Death & Co.' cater to peope who are more professionally involved in the mixology industry. An avid reader in their spare time would be more than willing to indulge in this information, but it wouldn't be ideal for a house gathering.

Second Competition: Cocktail Recipe Apps

Another major competitor to this project would be cocktail recipe apps. A known one within the mixology industry is the 'Bartender's Choice' app. The immediate benefit of this concept is the portability and convenience of a huge selection of recipes in the palm of the consumer's hand.

The internet is a major source of information, but with the app there would be less engagement among friends. It can become more difficult to share the recipe in a group setting. In social gatherings, scrolling through phone screens can be disruptive.

Logo Progression

A person shakes ingredients in a cocktail tin, so the word 'shakers' made a lot of sense for implementing into the brand name. Since the point of the deck is to not only help the average person craft up a cocktail, but also to build connections with others, the word 'savor' was chosen.

'Savor Shakers' is an alliteration that inspired the concept of the logomark, the letter 'S', which took a geometric shape when combining fruits that people can use for mixing drinks.
