The Contest Season is Upon Us!!!!!

The Spring is always a busy time for music with many contests and festivals to participate in. While more information will be coming out as we are closer to the actual dates, we wanted to keep you in the loop of what is ahead! Times listed are scheduled times when each band performs.   Wind Ensemble:

• April 24th North Texas Festival of Distinction @ Richland HS 10:45pm
• May 4th Beg. Spring Concert @ WGHS Auditorium (featuring WE) 6:30pm
• May 8th WE/SB/CB Spring Concert @ WGHS Auditorium 6:30pm

  Symphonic Band:

• April 25th North Texas Festival of Distinction @ Richland HS 11:15am
• May 8th Rogers Spring Concert @ WGHS Auditorium 6:30pm

  Concert Band:

• May 1st American Classic Music Festival – Pinstack Plano 1:00pm
• May 8th Rogers Spring Concert @ WGHS Auditorium 6:30pm

  Beginning Band:

• April 30th Beginning Band Afterschool Rehearsal 3:40-5:00pm
• May 4th Rogers Spring Concert @ WGHS Auditorium 6:30pm
• May 7th Spring Band Competition - RHS – (The Cove trip on 5/11) 9:30am

  Jazz Band:

• May 4th Beginning/Jazz Band Spring Concert @WGHS Auditorium 6:30pm
• May 7th Jazz Band/Beginning Band Festival – WGHS and The Cove 9:30am

Rogers Band Solo Contest

The Rogers Solo Contest is coming up on the evening of Wednesday, April 15th! This is an event for students who have prepared a solo either in their private lessons or in their band class Next week, participating students will receive an information sheet with their assigned performance time and room number. Performance times will be around 6-7 minutes long and range between 5:00PM at 8:00PM. If any changes need to be made regarding your student's performance time, please email Mrs. Williams at bcwilliams@prosper-isd.net.

Beginner 4th 9-weeks Project

All of our beginners are starting to work on their BIG 4th 9-weeks pass-off project. They are working to pass-off major scales and also lines out of the book. We will keep track with a sticker/pass-off chart. This a great project that students can move at their own pace.

Prosper ISD Band Camp (for current 6th/7th graders)

Join us for a week of music, friends, and fun with students from all 6 Prosper ISD Middle School Bands! This camp is open to current 6th and 7th grade  band  students  (previous band experience is required). The Details:

• Dates: June 1st – June 5th ·
• Location: Walnut Grove High School ·
• Highlights: Daily rehearsals, games, themed dress-up days, snacks, a camp t-shirt, a Friday concert, and a celebratory trip to Pinstack!

How to Register:

1. Visit the Prosper ISD Camp Portal.
2. Select "Prosper ISD Fine Arts, CTE & UIL Camps", then select "Band".
3. Important: Register based on your student’s upcoming (2026–2027) grade level:

• Current 6th Graders → Select 7th Grade
• Current 7th Graders → Select 8th Grade

• May 7 – Beginner/Jazz Spring Contest and Trip
• May 8 – WE, SB, CB Spring Concert and Awards Ceremony
