2023 MVC Cross Country Championships Final results

Belmont (40 points) earned the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Title. The Braves of Bradley earned runner-up honors with 59 points. Illinois State tabbed third in the final results with 93 points and Drake tallied 123 points in the final tally to earn fourth. The Missouri State Bears earned 142 points, and Southern Illinois finished sixth with 155 points, followed by Indiana State (174 points) in seventh, Northern Iowa (181 points) in eighth, and UIC (209 points) in ninth. With Murray State (273 points) in tenth, Evansville (281 points) in eleventh, and Valparaiso (315 points) in twelfth.

Drake (41 points) secured the top spot at the 2023 MVC Cross Country Championship. Bradley (71 points) earned second place followed by Belmont (72 points) in third. In fourth Illinois State (81 points) followed by Indiana State (152 points), Southern Illinois (161 points), and UIC (193 points). Valparaiso tallied 217 points for eighth followed by Murray State at 234 points. Northern Iowa (244 points) and Evansville (339 points) for eleventh.

FIRST PLACE WOMEN

Belmont

Scoring 40 points as a team the Bruins clinch their first MVC Cross Country Championship Title. The Bruins finished 5 runners in the top 15 runners of the race led by Elite 17 winner, junior Kaitlyn Vanderkolk's second place time of 20:29.79. Grace Litzinger placed seventh individually for the Bruins with a time of 21:02.59. Katie Flaherty and Brooke Stromsland rounded out the top ten with their respective times of 21:16.41 and 21:17.77. Brooke Garter rounded out the Bruins with a 12th-place finish at a time of 21:26.31. The Bruins earned 4 MVC All-Conference honors and one MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention. The Bruins are ranked 9th in the South Region and will Florida on November 10th to compete for the chance to race at the NCAA Cross Country National Championship.

FIRST PLACE MEN

DRAKE

The Bulldogs claim the program's 13th MVC Cross Country Title with a point total of 41. The Bulldogs placed five runners in the top 20 of the race and were led by Sophomore Jake Turner and Junior Enzo Marie with their respective third and fourth place finishes at times of 24:37.1 and 24:38.9. Cameron Bell finished in eighth with a time of 24:55.1 and Aziz Jdai finished ninth with a time of 24:56.4. The Bulldogs also had Brogan Griffin place outside All-Conference Honors at seventeenth with a time of 25:16.6. The Bulldogs earned four MVC All-Conference spots. The Bulldogs are ranked #3 in the Midwest Region and will travel to Oklahoma State on November 10th for the opprotunity to to compete for a spot at the NCAA Cross Country National Championship.

SECOND PLACE WOMEN

BRADLEY

The Braves earned the runner-up title as they finished the 2023 MVC Cross Country Championship with 59 team points and 5 runners placed in the top 20 of the race. The Braves were led by Wilma Nielsen at a time of 21:00.5 who finished in sixth place. Abigail Hancock finished second for the Braves with an individual time of 21:14.8 earning her 8th overall. Nadia Potgieter finished 11th for the Braves with a time of 21:22.5 alongside Trixie Wraith's 15th place and 21:42.5 time. Anna Perry rounded out the top 20 Braves with a time of 21:50.2 and a nineteenth-place finish. The Braves head to Sillwater Oklahoma to compete at the 2023 NCAA Regional Championships on November 10th for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

SECOND PLACE MEN

BRADLEY

The Braves took home runner-up team honors totaling 71 team points and averaging a time of 2:05:46 collectively. The Braves scored four runners in the top 20 of the race. The Braves were led by Michael Rebello's 24:51.7 time and seventh-place finish. followed by Jayde Rosslee's 10th place finish and time of 24:58.3. The Braves rounded out their top 20 finishes with Oliver Burns and Rodrigo Alvarez Gonzalez. Burns placed 15th with a time of 25:13.4 and Alvarez Gonzalez finished 16th with a time of 25:13.4. The Braves also had Ian O'Laughlin in 23rd with a time of 25:27.2. The Braves are ranked #10 in the Midwest and will race at Oklahoma State on November 10th for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Cross Country Championship.

THIRD PLACE

ILLINOIS STATE - WOMEN

Illinois State women earned 3rd with a team score of 93. The Redbirds placed 2 in the top 10 of the race. The Redbirds were led by Mattison Plummer's fourth place finish of 20:50.7 and Claire Fuhlhage's fifth place finishing time of 20:53.9. Lauren Schulze and Maggie Reed finished in the top 30 for the Redbirds with finishes of 21st and 27th. The Redbirds #13 in the Midwest and will travel to Stillwater to compete for at the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship.

BELMONT - MEN

Belmont Bruins score 72 team points with 4 runners finishing in the top 20 of the race. The Bruins were led by Zac Shaffer's fifth place time of 24:41.9. Followed by Ethan Hammer's 12th place finishing time of 25:03.8 and Kevin Vanderkolk's 14th place time of 25:11.5. Joel Wolf rounds out the Bruins with a 20th place finishing time of 25:19.7. The Bruins will travel to Florida November 10th for the chance to earn the spot to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Cross Country Championship.

FOURTH PLACE

DRAKE - WOMEN

The 2023 MVC Cross Country Individual Champion Brooke Mullins led the Bulldogs to a fourth-place team finish. Mullins tabbed a 20:13.8 time setting a new course record at Vaughn's Gap at Percy Warner Park. Mullins was followed by Emile Meyer in 19th place with a time of 21:49.5 and Carmen Krawczynski Gonzalez in 20th place time of 21:51.6. The Bulldogs rank #14th in the Midwest and will race in Stillwater on November 10th.

ILLINOIS STATE - MEN

Mathis Chavand led the Redbirds to a fourth-place team finish after his runner-up individual title time of 24:31.8. Chavand was followed by teammate Zack Loomis' time of 24:42.2 and 6th place finish alongside Charlie Wetzel's 11th place time of 25:00.8. The Redbirds earned 2 MVC All-Conference Honors spots and 1 MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention spot. The Redbirds will compete in Stillwater on November 10th at the NCAA Reigional Championships.

FIFTH PLACE

MISSOURI STATE - WOMEN

The Bears rounded a fifth-place team finish with the leadership of Mia McLain and Margrette Mary Harris's sixteenth and seventeenth-place finishes. McLain finished with a time of 21:43.2 and Harris finished with a time of 21:43.4 just outside MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention Honors. The Bears also finished all runners in the top 50 of the race earning them a team point total of 142. The Bears will race at the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship November 10th.

INDIANA STATE - MEN

Finishing all runners in the top 50 of the race the Sycamores were led by Cael Light's 22nd place finish and 25:20.2 time. Followed by Layton Hall's 24th-place finishing time of 25:31.1 and Logan Pietrzak's 32nd place time of 25:43.2. The Sycamores also placed Jackson Krieg and Ethan Breen in the Top 40 with respective times of 25:49.0 and 25:59.1. The Sycamores will travel to Wisconsin to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship November 10.

SIXTH PLACE

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS -WOMEN

The Salukis were led by Rachel Anderson's third-place finishing time of 20:39.0. Followed by Ellie Hall's 13th place finish of 21:38.5 and Stephanie Anthonies 23rd place time of 21:59.2. The Salukis tabbed 1 MVC All-Conference Honor and 1 MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention. The Salukis will travel to Stillwater to compete in the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS - MEN

Ethan Senti earned the 2023 MVC Cross Country Individual Title with a time of 24:24.9. The Elite 17 winning Saluki was followed by teammate Josh Allison in 26th with a time of 25:36.2 and Dawson Smith's 33rd place finish of 25:44.8. The Salukis score a total of 161 total team points and averaged 25:41 as a team. The Salukis will travel to Oklahoma State to compete in the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

SEVENTH PLACE

INDIANA STATE - WOMEN

Finishing 6 in the top 50 runners the Sycamores earn 7th place as a team with 174 points. Led by Emma Gresham's 24th place finishing time of 22:01.6 time she was followed by Morgan Dyer at 28th with a time of 22:10.6. Halle Miller took 32nd with a time of 22:12.3 followed by Rachel Conhoff in 42nd with a time of 22:28.0. The Sycamores set to compete in the 2023 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

UIC - MEN

Finishing all runners in the top 60 of the race, the Flames were led by Daniel Chavez's 19th-place finishing time of 25:18.2. Chavez was followed by fellow Flame Dathan Maton's 30th-place finish and Drey Maton's 56th-place finish. The Flames scored 193 team points and totaled 2:09:41 as a team. The Flames will compete in the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

EIGHTH PLACE

NORTHERN IOWA -WOMEN

At 181 points the Panthers took eighth as a team led by Emma Hoins' 14th place finishing time of 21:39.8. Hoins was followed by Kate Crawford's 26th place time of 22:07.8 and Eden Mueller's 41st place time of 22:28.0. The Panthers also had Ella Popenhagen's 47th place time of 22:28.8 following the pack. The Panthers will compete in the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

VALPARAISO - MEN

With 217 points the Beacons were led by Evan Walda in 13th place with a time of 25:06.7. Walda was the lone Beacon to earn MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention Status. The Beacons also placed 3 in the top 30 runners and 5 in the top 65. The Beacon's Karson Hollander finished 42nd with a time of 25:59.3 and Joseph Scheele's 44nd place time of 26:03.2. The Beacons are set to compete in the 2023 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

NINTH PLACE

UIC - WOMEN

At a team score of 209 the Flames were led by 22nd place Daniela Martinez's time of 21:55.3. Followed by 29th place Rosie Campbell-Watt's time of 22:10.6 and 37th place Caitlyn Persinger's mark of 22:19.5. The Flames averaged a team time of 22:32 and totaled 1:52:40. The Flames will compete in the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

MURRAY STATE - MEN

With a point total of 234 the Racers were led by Jorge Ruiz and his 19th place finishing time of 22:19.2. Ruiz was followed by fellow Racer Vicente Correia's 37th place time of 25:50.7 and Jarod Willis' 46th place finishing time of 26:08.1. The Racers will compete in the 2023 NCAA Southeast Regional Championship in South Carolina Upstate for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

TENTH PLACE

MURRAY STATE- WOMEN

With a team score of 273, the Racers were led by Kaydee Wooldridge's 31st time of 22:11.2. The Racer was followed by teammate Ruth Kimutai in 39th place with a time of 22:26.5 and Jocelyn Host's 66th place time of 23:15.0. The Racers set to compete in the 2023 NCAA Southeast Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

NORTHERN IOWA- MEN

With 244 team points the Panthers took 10th after placing five runners in the top 60. The Panthers were led by Caleb Shumaker's 28th place finish with a time of 25:37.3. Shumaker was followed by teammate Dylan Meyers in 48th place with a time of 26:12.7 and Brady Greibel's 50th place finishing time of 26:14.6. The Panthers will compete in the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

ELEVENTH

EVANSVILLE - WOMEN

The Aces scored 281 team points to place eleventh at the 2023 MVC Cross Country Championships. The Aces were led by Sonja Inzinger's 38th place finishing time of 22:24.1, followed by Nicole Prauchner's 43rd place time of 22:36.3, and Nyla Martin in 57th place with a time of 22:55.6. The Aces to compete in the 2023 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

EVANSVILLE - MEN

The Aces tabbed 339 points led by Samuel Lea in 66th place at a time of 26:37.6 and in 70th place Rafael Rodriguez's time of 27:24.6. Woody Burrell took 78th for the Aces with a time of 27:57.8. The Aces will compete in the 2023 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

TWELFTH

VALPARAISO - WOMEN

Finishing with a score of 315 points Grace Aurand led the Beacons with a time of 22:13.5 and a 33rd-place finish. Lauren Wroza's time of 22:51.9 earned her 53rd place with Vivian Rahmel and Joely Overstreet rounding out the Beacons in 84th and 85th place. The Beacons will travel to compete in the 2023 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship for the chance to compete at the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

MVC Cross Country Teams will prepare for 4 Regionals where they compete for the opportunity to compete at NCAA Nationals.
