Holocaust Talk
This week Years 9 and 10 History students attended a talk by guest speaker, Annick Lever, from the Holocaust Education Trust. This was a valuable opportunity for the students to witness a personal testimony from Annick, whose mother and grandparents were lost during the Holocaust. The talk focused on the huge impact this has had on Annick, the resilience she then showed and the importance of understanding and celebrating each other's differences. The students were very engaged and asked lots of questions, which has helped to enrich and consolidate their learning.
Eurovision comes to Kent College
As has become customary during Eurovision season, the Sixth Form leadership team hosted a fun whole-school assembly, where students voted for their favourite Eurovision Song Contest song, with different countries represented across Houses and Year groups.
Led by Lower Sixth Formers Kateryna, Thais, Cherry and Anna, who all presented in their own languages, Years 7 and 8 students read out facts about their country's Eurovision performances over history and played their entries for this year's competition. All students then voted for their winner!
Congratulations to the winners, Estonia - let's see if this is an early indication of how well they get on during the finals on Saturday!
Poetry Success
A huge congratulations to our outgoing Deputy Head Girl, Mireya, who shared her powerful poetry at two events during the Tunbridge Wells Arts Festival last weekend. On Saturday, she read her poem "Growing Up" at Abi Daré’s "And So I Roar" event. Then on Sunday, she had the honour of opening for the Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, with her poem "Wish" at "An Afternoon with the Poet Laureate" at the Assembly Hall.
Along with the Upper Sixth's Bea and Poppy, Mireya will also be working with Hannah at Disruptive Creative, to publish their own books of poetry after their A Levels. What a fantastic achievement!
West Kent ISSP Collaboration
As part of our ongoing conservation project, students from Kent College and the West Kent ISSP came together in a fantastic display of teamwork to build and decorate bird boxes. The theme for the year is conservation and students have been working together to improve their local environment.
The bird boxes, now proudly placed in our school eco garden, will provide much-needed shelter for native bird species, especially during the nesting season.
The project offered valuable hands-on experience with tools and materials, encouraging practical skills, creativity, and problem-solving. Just as importantly, it promoted collaboration, communication, and environmental awareness.
It was wonderful to see young people from different schools working side by side with a common goal. We’re proud of what they’ve achieved and look forward to seeing birds enjoying their new homes.
Junior Maths Challenge April 2025
On Thursday 25th April, students from Years 7 and 8 took part in the UK Maths Trust Junior Maths Challenge, run by Leeds University. It was a tough competition and a high level of mathematical skills was needed in order to solve the problems.

Silver certificate
- Year 7: Yan Enye
- Year 8: Cathy
Very special congratulations to Ella in Year 7, who achieved Gold certificate and Best in Year. She also qualified for the follow-on round, the Junior Kangaroo Challenge which takes place on Tuesday 10th June. We wish her the very best with the next round!
Year 8 Drama
Last Friday, Kent College had the pleasure of welcoming students from both Laddingford and Paddock Wood Primary Schools to our Countess of Wessex Theatre. They took part in a morning of Drama and Dance workshops led by our Year 8 students as part of their Trinity College Bronze Arts Award. It was a productive and inspiring morning and Kent College students thrived creatively, making us all proud.
Gymnastics Success
Amelia in Year 9 recently competed in the National Finals for Acrobatic Gymnastics, representing the South East region. As part of her trio, Amelia's team placed fourth in the country, narrowly missing out on the bronze spot. The competition was tough as only the best of the best from the whole country was there. Well done Amelia!
Charity Bake Sale
On Wednesday, the Celts ran a Fairtrade Bake Sale, where students were encouraged to donate baked goods with Fair Trade ingredients. The cake with the most Fair Trade ingredients was baked by Erin in the Lower Sixth. Well done Erin! Everyone agreed her banana cake was delicious as well.

Join the KCPA!
Please find attached a flyer from the Kent College Parents’ Association (KCPA), which works closely with parents, teachers, and staff in the Senior School to support events and initiatives that benefit our students.
As the current leadership team will be stepping down at the end of May, they are seeking a new team, including a Chair, Co-Chairs, and Treasurer, to continue this important connection between parents and the school. They also welcome general volunteers to assist with events and activities.
Please note: this doesn't have to be a big commitment; any help or time you can give, would be much appreciated.
For further details or to express your interest, please see above flyer for who to contact.
