Josie Guernsey Represents OV Students
Student Leadership in Action: Josie Guernsey Joins the OVCS Board of Education
Otselic Valley is proud to recognize Josie Guernsey, who was officially sworn in on August 21st as a Student Representative on the Otselic Valley Central School Board of Education. Josie’s role gives students an important voice in school decision-making and helps bridge communication between students, staff, and the Board.
This fall, Josie joined other student representatives from across the region at a special event hosted by Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES, in partnership with the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA).
During the event, student leaders connected with state and local education leaders, including NYSSBA Executive Director Robert Schneider, Senator Shelley Mayer, Assembly Member Carrie Woerner, Board of Regents Chancellor Lester Young, NYSSBA President Sandra Ruffo, NYSSBA Deputy Director Jay Worona, and NYSED Commissioner Dr. Betty Rosa.
The day featured inspiring presentations and a community-building circle that emphasized student voice, belonging, and leadership.
We’re proud of Josie for representing Otselic Valley with confidence and professionalism, and for sharing the student perspective at both the regional and district levels.
