City Clerk's Corner

City Commissions

  • Congratulations to all the newly appointed City Commissioners! At the City Council meeting of December 12, 2023, City Council approved their appointee selections for all four (4) City Commissioners.
  • Each of the members of the Commissions were appointed to a two-year term in accordance with the provisions of the Pico Rivera Municipal Code and are set to expire in December 2025.

  • As the City Clerk’s office prepares to enter the 2024 Elections season, our office has worked diligently to ensure that residents are provided with the most up-to-date Elections information such as voter registration information, vote center listings, ballot drop box information, and election deadlines.
  • With that said, we invite you to explore the Elections page for all General Municipal and Presidential Elections related information using the button below.
  • As a friendly reminder, the last day to register to vote in the March Presidential Primary Elections is Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

City Clerk - 2023 Year End Review

As the City Clerk commences the new year, we wanted to highlight some of the work our City Clerk's office accomplished in 2023 The City Clerk's office is committed to serving the community with excellence, innovation and look forward to 2024!

Biannual Records Destruction

During the month of December 2023, the City Clerk’s office coordinated and facilitated a biannual records clean up giving City Departments an opportunity to review physical and electronic departmental records that were due for destruction in accordance with the City’s adopted Records Retention Schedule. The City Clerk’s office completed the destruction with the following items destroyed:

  • 92 File Boxes housed at City Hall and GRM Storage facility
  • 3,629 Electronic Files located on the City’s electronic server; and
  • (1) 64-Gal container of records at the Public Works Yard

Did you know...

The First Pico Rivera City Council

The City of Pico Rivera held its very first City Council meeting on January 29, 1958 at 8:00 p.m. in the Junior High School Auditorium (currently known as Rivera Middle School). With the following first City Councilmembers

  • Orlyn Culp
  • John Williams Davis
  • Louis R. Diaz, Jr.
  • James M. Patronite
  • Ruth Benell

At this same meeting, the first nominations for Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore occurred; where Councilmember Orlyn Culp was nominated to the position of Mayor and John Davis was nominated to the position of Mayor Pro Tempore making them the first Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore of the City of Pico Rivera.

2024 California Contract Cities Sacramento Legislative Tour

  • The Pico Rivera City Council attended the California Contract Cities Association Sacramento Legislative Tour between January 8 and 10.
  • The Council joined fellow councilmembers from throughout Southern California to hear and meet with state legislators and advocate for the diverse and unique needs of their communities.

Historic Whittier Boulevard Revitalization Program - Draft Multimodal Plan Available for Public Comment February 5, 2024

  • We are excited to share the first major deliverable as part of our Historic Whittier Boulevard Revitalization Program!
  • Developed using robust community feedback and input, a draft of our Multimodal plan for Whittier Boulevard will be available for public review and comment on February 5, 2024.
  • We look forward to sharing the plan with our community and further refine the future of Whittier Boulevard!

Public Works and Citywide Project Updates

Median and Parkway Beautification Projects Along Rosemead Boulevard and Major Corridors

  • The Rosemead Boulevard and Major Corridors Median and Parkway Beautification Projects are scheduled to start construction in January 2024.
  • Urban Habitat will perform median improvements along Rosemead Boulevard, Paramount Boulevard, Slauson Avenue, Washington Boulevard, and Whittier Boulevard.
  • The work will require lane closures and will be phased to minimize the impact of construction.
  • Please watch for and obey the traffic control signs and the flagman’s direction for your safety, and the safety of the workers.
