Conrad Bi-Weekly Memo February 14, 2025

Principal's Message

Love is certainly in the air this Valentine’s Day, and we’ve been busy celebrating, connecting, and supporting our students and staff. We've had a fantastic start to the new year and are eager to carry that momentum into the spring season.

Looking ahead, we are preparing for SAT/PSAT Day in March—an important milestone for our high school students as it serves as both an indicator of college readiness and a gateway to higher education opportunities.

Course selection is underway, and we’re excited for the return of spring sports and a variety of extracurricular activities for students and families. In the coming weeks, we invite you to join us for our annual Quarter Auction, enjoy the Drama Club’s production of 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, and cheer on our teams in post-season tournaments. We’re also looking forward to hosting both our middle and high school dances, creating a fun and memorable experience for our students. Your support means so much to our school community, and we look forward to seeing you at these events!

Mission- Conrad Schools of Science… teaching life science and life lessons in a kind and inclusive environment, inspiring students and improving the world.

Vision- Conrad Schools of Science will empower students to achieve their goals and impact the community.

Upcoming events/ Important info

FAFSA Help is Available

Participants will work at individual devices (students must bring their school issued chrome book) and enter their information toward competing the application. The facilitators will make themselves available as they move throughout the room to assist in addressing questions, making suggestions, and clarifying sections of the application.

A handout will be shared via email to the student and parent once registered. The 25-26 FAFSA application will require ALL contributors to the FAFSA to have an FSA ID - username and password. That means that at least one parent in the home will need to create a FSA ID as well as the student. You must create this BEFORE you start the FAFSA as it may take 1-3 days for verification: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account).

For help with creating a FAFSA ID before the event, appointments are available via ZOOM by scheduling an appointment with Stand By Me NexGen here: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule/04adeba3

For questions about registration, contact Nadia Borges at: nadia.borges@redclay.k12.de.us; 302-995-5545.

SAT/PSAT Testing Day – March 11

On Tuesday, March 11, all students in grades 9-11 will participate in SAT/PSAT testing. 9th and 10th graders will take the PSAT, while 11th graders will take the SAT. Both exams are digital, so students must bring their Chromebooks fully charged on test day.

To ensure students are prepared and perform their best, we ask families to help by:

  • Encouraging students to get a full night’s sleep the night before.
  • Ensuring students arrive to school on time—testing will begin promptly in the morning.
  • Making sure students eat a nutritious breakfast before arriving at school.
  • Early Dismissals - If a student plans to leave school after testing, they must submit an early dismissal note to the main office before March 11. Notes should be turned in as soon as possible to ensure a smooth process on test day. Testing should wrap up by 10:45am.

We appreciate your support in making this a successful testing day for all students!
