Diocesan Catholic Schools win District 5A PSIA Academic Meet

LUBBOCK – Christ the King Diocesan School hosted elementary and middle school students for the District 5A Private Schools Interscholastic Association Academic Meet in Lubbock on February 22.

The diocesan school organized and ran the event, directed and graded contests, hosted a hospitality room and a concession stand.

Many Christ the King Diocesan School students won contests and advance to the PSIA State Meets at Texas State University in San Marcos, in April.

Christ the King Elementary and Middle Schools each won first place in the district 5A competition.

Christ the King Diocesan Elementary and Middle Schools each won the District 5A Private Schools Interscholastic Association Academic Meet in Lubbock on February 22.

More than 10,000 students from 178 private, parochial, and homeschool institutions across Texas competed in the 2025 PSIA District Academic Meets, held from February 8 through March 1. These district contests, spanning 19 regions, provided young scholars in grades 1 through 8 the opportunity to showcase their academic talents in a wide array of competitions.

From Number Sense to Ready Writing, Maps, Graphs, and Charts to Oral Interpretation, students challenged themselves in rigorous contests designed to promote critical thinking, creativity, and scholastic excellence. PSIA’s mission is to inspire student achievement through academic competition, and this year’s district meets exemplified the dedication and talent of young learners across Texas.

Private Schools Interscholastic Association (PSIA) provides opportunities for students in grades 1 through 8 to develop and refine their academic skills through academic competition. Offering 61 contest categories plus One-Act Play, PSIA fosters intellectual growth through subject areas including mathematics, science, language arts, social studies, and fine arts.
