Highlights of the week
What a spectacular final week of term we have shared! Our school has been alive with music, and I feel truly privileged to work in an environment that does everything possible to foster such incredible talent.
Musical Highlights
Our musicians have been busy across the city and right here at school:
- A Gala Performance: On Tuesday evening, our Choir and the Double Bass and Cello Ensemble performed at the Birmingham Conservatoire. The choir, who performed with Kings Heath Primary School Choir, had the honor of being the final act of the night, earning a well-deserved and resounding round of applause from the audience.
- Open Rehearsals: It was wonderful to see so many parents joining us this morning for the Orchestra's open rehearsal.
- Rocksteady: This afternoon, we welcomed families back for our Rocksteady concerts, which provided a high-energy end to our musical week.
Celebrating Achievement
In this morning’s end-of-term assembly, we turned our focus to the hard work of our students in Years 3 and 4, celebrating the fantastic progress they have made with their reading. We also took a moment to reflect on our sporting achievements. Mrs. Arnold, our PE Lead, shared an exciting update regarding the London Marathon initiativewe will be participating in during April. To keep that momentum going, she has encouraged all children to stay active over the Easter break.
Get Involved: A great way to stay active is the Junior Park Run! These sessions take place every Sunday at 9:00 am in Cannon Hill Park. Runners meet at the bandstand—it’s a great way to start the day if you do not have any other plans.
I wish you all a lovely, restful, and happy Easter break. We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for the summer term!

Colmore Allotment Update! The Colmore Allotment Club team smashed it at the weekend, 6 raised beds are now all prepared with compost and are ready for planting, the storytelling circle had a glow up and the shed has been painted blue. It's amazing what can be collectively achieved in a couple of hours and we can’t wait to get planting and growing! 😀 Colmore Allotment Club team meets weekly in dry weather and hosts monthly events. If you are interested in joining the team - express your interest and we'll be in touch.
We were delighted to take part in the Spring Gala concert at the Birmingham Conservatoire on Tuesday evening. Our upper school choir group, led by Mrs Mapp, and our cello and double bass ensemble, led by Mrs Cochrane, performed so well in front of a packed audience. It was also fantastic to see so many of our ex pupils playing as part of the Queensbridge Orchestra too! In the Summer term our upper school choir, strings ensemble and the Year 4 choir will be taking part in the summer gala concert too.
We are delighted to announce that on Friday 17th April we will be welcoming the children’s author and previous poet laureate to school to carry out a whole school assembly. As part of the visit he will also be signing a variety of his books which are available to purchase ahead of time thanks to our wonderful local book shop, How Brave is the Wren. The link is below. It is a tremendous accolade to have him visiting our school and we can’t wait to meet him.
The newsletters are also accessible on the news section of our school website.
