As a new Aggie, you must understand the power of your account and the resources that you have access to as a Texas A&M student. Howdy!
Howdy keeps you connected to your grades, courses, and TAMU resources.
NetID VS. UIN
- NetID is your username to log into Howdy and all Texas A&M-provided resources.
- Your NetID@tamu.edu is your TAMU student Gmail account.
- UIN is your numerical TAMU ID shown on your Aggie ID card.
Manage your NetID, email, and password through the Aggie Account Gateway.
DUO - NetID Two-Factor Authentication
Duo adds an extra layer of security to Texas A&M NetID accounts. Follow the steps below to gain secure access to Howdy and the TAMUG Virtual Labs:
- Navigate to your smartphone’s app store.
- Search Duo Mobile to download the free Duo Security's mobile app to your device.
- Browse to duo.tamu.edu and click "Enroll in Duo".
- Use your Texas A&M NetID (without the @tamu.edu) and password to login.
- If you have not yet added a device to use with Duo, click "Start Setup".
- Make sure to choose DUO Push authentication method.

Technology Services – Galveston is not affiliated with 12th Man Technology but is a resource available to our campus and is located in College Station if support is needed.
- Select TAMUG Wi-Fi as the network.
- You will be redirected to wifi.tamug.edu
- Log in using your Texas A&M NetID and Password (NetID is the beginning text of email, remove @tamu)
- You will automatically be redirected to a pop-up page stating, 'You're good to go!' signifying that you are now connected to the TAMUG Wi-Fi.
Digital Learning Enviorment
Texas A&M uses Canvas as its learning management system (LMS). Canvas is a secure, centralized system for online and hybrid learning.
Canvas student support is offered within Canvas. Texas A&M Galveston students can also contact helpdesk@tamug.edu or stop by the Helpdesk with Canvas questions.
Instructors also utilize different third-party tool services both inside and outside of Canvas. Students are instructed to use their TAMU NetID and password with the listed services:

Access Microsoft Office 365 Products with TAMU credentials.
- Browse to office.com
- Use your Texas A&M NetID@tamu.edu and password to login.
- Select the grid icon in the top left to see all free Microsoft applications available for web use and desktop download.
Access Google Web Mail and Education Products with TAMU credentials.

Printing on Campus
There are several locations on Campus for students to print. Each student receives an allocation of credit for printing.
- $25 for the Summer term.
- $45 for the Fall and Spring terms.

Do I have to have a laptop?
Yes, it is recommended for your success. Please review the recommendations in the BYOD section listed above or contact helpdesk@tamug.edu if you need additional purchase advice.
How can I fix my computer?
Contact Helpdesk and bring your device to CLB 113. Technicians can provide recommendations and help with software-related issues.
Do you provide software?
Please visit software.tamu.edu and review the software for students. Review the resources that you have access to with your TAMU credentials.
How do I get internet access in the residence halls?
