Key Returners and Newcomers
The Bulldogs return several key players from last year’s team, including senior captain Mey Sun. Sun has been a key defender for Adrian for her first three seasons, and led all returning Bulldog players in Ground Balls (36) and Caused Turnovers (33) last year. Sun finished tied for 3rd among all MIAA players in Caused Turnovers during conference play last season (causing 17 turnovers in seven conference games). The Bulldog defense also returns fellow senior, Lauren Falzone along with juniors, Taylor Gregan, Olivia Gedman, Jordan Hunt, and Avary Allstead, and sophomore Abbey VanAssche. Sophomore Mya Reyes and freshman Megan Pihalja are newcomers to the defensive unit.
In the midfield, the Bulldogs will feature junior captain Lucia Commare, who returns after missing the 2023 season due to injury. Two freshmen, Sarah Gross and Jessica Price will step into prominent roles in the midfield as well.
On attack, junior captain Zoe Weber returns for Adrian. Weber is the leading returning scorer for the Bulldogs, after netting 22 goals and adding 12 assists during 2023. Fellow junior Maggie Bean also returns, after an 11 goal, six assist campaign. Mariana Miller will join the attack and is expected to be an immediate contributor as a transfer and Addison Krzyzak also returns for her sophomore season on attack.
Sophomore Emily Crager is a versatile player that can play all over the field and returns after finishing third on the team with 13 goals as a freshman. Crager also had 30 draw controls as a freshman, which led all Bulldog returners.
Thoughts from Head Coach Amanda Asher
Amanda Asher, in her first year as the Bulldogs head coach, is eager to get the season started, stating: “Our team has worked really hard in the pre-season, and we have talked about how we will need all of us to make this year a building block for this program. I’m proud of the effort that the players have put in so far and am excited to get going with this group.”
