School Spirit

Before the winter break, students were showing their school and community spirit during festive celebrations & luncheons, festivals, acts of kindness and much more. Here's a peek at some of the events.

The Kindness Squad from Departure Bay Elementary raises funds for the Pediatric Unit at NRGH; Festive Celebration for families at Island ConnectED; 150 ELL students gathered to celebrate a Winter Festival!

Registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open for Kindergarten, secondary academies, French Immersion- including Late French Immersion- and out of catchment requests.

  • January 31, 2025- Registration closes for early French Immersion.
  • March 1, 2025- Registration closes for secondary academies.

Weaving our Stories Series

During the Curriculum Implementation Day on Friday, December 6, 2024, staff were introduced to the Weaving our Stories video series. This series included hearing stories about school life from students and former students, including from Knowledge Keeper and Educator Patrick Aleck.

Patrick shared his story about growing up within Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools and shared his advice to educators.

Ready, Set, Learn

TRC57 Speaker Series

Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools, in collaboration with UBC Press and Vancouver Island Regional Library, is proud to host the first session of Season 5 on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This free thought-provoking learning series is intended to help promote a deeper conversation and rebuild our relationships with Indigenous peoples and the land. If you are unable to make this or other sessions, don't worry, this series will be recorded and available for viewing and ongoing educational purposes.
