Weekly Newsletter wEST mEADOWS - 14th june 2024

Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!

This week in school our Year 4 children undertook their National Multiplication Tables Check, our Year 1 children sat their phonics screening check while our Year 2 pupils have begun their end of year assessments. We are so proud of how all of them have done - every single pupil has tried their very best and we could not ask for more! Well done to all of them.

Non-Uniform Day:

This year our Year 6 End of Year show will be The Wizard of Oz, which will be supported by our Year 4 and 5 pupils singing. We would like to hold a fundraising event on Friday 21st June to help raise some money towards costumes and props for the show. On Friday, children can come into school in non-school uniform for a suggested donation of £1. We (and Year 6) thank you for your support.

Summer Fayre:

Our annual Summer Fayre will be held on Friday, 5th July from 2:00pm. There will be lots of games, stalls and a raffle for hampers and prizes. We would like to ask for any donations for our chocolate tombola (big or small) which can be brought into class at any time.

Balance Bikes:

Some of our Year 1 pupils had an opportunity this week to go to Kirk Balk for a Ramp It Up Balance Bike session. They had a fantastic time and Ms Grange and Miss Smith were so proud of their attitude and behaviour. They were fantastic representatives for the school. Well done!

Teddy Bears' Picnic:

Our F1 (Nursery) and F2 (Reception) children are excited to have a parent or family member join them next Friday 21st June for a Teddy Bears’ picnic and games. We are really looking forward to seeing you there.

Cutting The Cost of Keeping Warm:

Last week we sent out an information guide for parents to support with cutting the costs of energy bills with lots of helpful advice and contact for support.

Parent Forum Meeting:

Our next Parent Forum meeting is on Monday 17th June at 2:00pm in the community room. Yesterday we emailed out the minutes of the previous meeting and the actions we have taken as a school so far as a result of questions raised. We would love you to come to the next meeting as we value the input and support of our parents.

Twitter:

Please follow our main Twitter page and class pages to find out all about what your children have been learning in school. Please give us a like so we know you have seen our posts. We are also in the process of updating our school website’s curriculum pages to share our latest curriculum information and plans so that you can take a look at what children study in each year group in each subject. Please take a look at our Science, Art, Geography and phonics pages for the most recent updates.

Attendance Matters!

Every Friday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life. We really need your support this year to raise our attendance. If you need any help or support please come and see Mrs Maree. You can see your own child’s attendance for the year and the last 4 weeks on the Arbor App. An attendance of 97% or above is considered to be good attendance.

Last Week's Attendance:

F1 AM (incl 30 hours): 87.3%

F2: 79.3%

Year 1: 94.8%

Year 2: 92%
