ATP SERVES SPOTLIGHT

2026 Edition 3 | Carbon Tracker

Welcome to the ATP Serves Spotlight, highlighting the tournaments, players and partners going above and beyond to reduce their environmental impact on Tour.

CARBON TRACKER

Since launching in 2023, more than 300 players have taken part in Carbon Tracker, ATP's award-winning app designed to help players:

📈 Track their tournament travel

🔍 Understand their emissions

✈️ Travel more sustainably

Take a look back at the start of the journey, with our launch video from Carbon Tracker's first season...

“Carbon Tracker has given me a whole new perspective on the way we travel."

- Francesco Passaro, ATP Player

1. HOW IT WORKS

1. Track: Players log their travel to tournaments to calculate and understand their carbon emissions

2. Offset: Players can offset their emissions by purchasing carbon credits through Gold Standard, supporting accredited climate and sustainable development projects

3. Compete: Leaderboard points are earned through in-app activity, including trips tracked, tournaments offset and tonnes of CO2 offset

4. Donate: At the end of each season, the top five in the leaderboard share a $100,000 prize pool, donated to their chosen charities.

Tracking for the fourth season of Carbon Tracker is already underway...

2. MONITORING TRAVEL

The long-term goal of Carbon Tracker is to encourage more sustainable travel choices across the Tour.

The app dashboard gives players a clear breakdown of their individual footprint and the impact of different travel options, while aggregated data helps the ATP better monitor key Tour-wide trends season to season.

3. PLAYER AMBASSADORS

During the 2025 Carbon Tracker season, players tracked a combined 2.3 million kilometres of travel and offset 585 tonnes of carbon.

Mackenzie McDonald topped the leaderboard for the second time, having also led the way in 2023, helping to spotlight sustainable travel on Sky Sports News....

“Carbon Tracker has helped me understand the impact of travelling between tournaments, allowed me to practically make more responsible choices, and shown me that even small changes add up. This donation from the ATP will be used to support the programmes and initiatives of my fund through the USTA Foundation, which helps open doors of opportunity for young people through the power of tennis, education and mentorship.”

- Mackenzie McDonald, ATP Player

Beyond providing a platform to raise awareness for sustainable travel in tennis, Carbon Tracker has helped players support a wide range of charitable causes over the past three seasons, including:

📚 Mackie McDonald College Fund:  Provides college scholarships to students in under-resourced communities who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, sportsmanship and passion for the sport of tennis, as well as support pathway programmes for youth, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area

🌱 Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice: Works with low-income and working-class, urban, rural, and indigenous communities to create a clean and healthy environment free from toxic and radioactive pollution

☁️ Clean Air Task Force: Pushes the change in technologies and policies needed to get to a zero-emissions, high-energy planet at an affordable cost

🌎 Cool Earth: Supports indigenous people and local communities in protecting the rainforest

🤝 Moore Foundation: Creates opportunities for disadvantaged youth in Belgium

🌊 Ocean Cleanup: Develops solutions to rid the world’s oceans of plastic

🏟️ Tous à Bord: Supports participation and inclusion of young people with disabilities in sport

🎾 Tennis Vlaanderen: Provides free tennis lessons and equipment to underprivileged children
