USM Field House HUSKY TRACK & FIELD AND TENNIS

The USM Field House was built in 1998 and updated in 2018. It can host up to 750 spectators and is equipped with a 200m six-lane track and four tennis courts.

The USM Field House is home to the men's and women's Indoor Track & Field and men's and women's Tennis teams. The facility has also hosted events for the USM Wrestling program including the annual Ted Reese Invitational and the 2023 NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship.

Huskies' men's track & field has had tremendous success at the conference, regional, and national levels. The Huskies have claimed 16 LEC indoor track and field titles, including each of the last two, and won five consecutive titles from 2015-2019.

Ben Drummey (USM '25) won two NCAA Division III titles (2022 & 2023) in the indoor pole vault during his time as a Husky.

Nine members of the USM men's indoor track and field team and one relay team have earned All-American honors. Ben Drummey (pole vault in 2022 & 2023) and Jamie Ruginski (triple jump in 2014 & 2015) each have won two NCAA DIII Indoor National Championships. 10 athletes have earned All-American status for outdoor track and field with Ruginski winning two additional national titles.

The Huskies won their 16th LEC indoor title in 2025

Drummey and Ethan Shain each earned All-American honors twice in 2024-25. Shain earned First Team honors in the 60m dash at the DII Indoor Championships and Second Team honors in the 100m at the outdoor national championships. Drummey earned Second Team honors at both events. Will Carrolton was also a Second Team All-American performer at the outdoor championships in the discus.

For the better part of two decades, Huskies' women's track & field has dominated the Little East Conference, claiming the indoor title 24 times in 26 seasons.

The USM women won their 24th LEC indoor title in 2025.

Team members have also received numerous accolades for their athletic and academic performances. Six Huskies have earned All-American honors for indoor track led by Peyton Dostie, the 2016 DIII National Champion in the pentathlon. 12 Huskies have been All-Americans for outdoor track as well including 2021 javelin National Champion Sophia Slovenski.

In 2021 Sophia Slovenski became the first women in program history to win an outdoor National Championship with a program record throw of 48.21m in the javelin.
The Huskies also won their 24th LEC Outdoor Championship in 2025.

The Huskies won both the indoor and outdoor conference titles in 2025. Several athletes earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors while Riley Retichel (First Team - Javelin) and Zoe Barnes (Second Team - Discus) earned All-American honors at the 2025 DIII Outdoor National Championships.

The USM women's tennis program has won two Little East Conference titles in its history with the victories coming in 2000 and 2002. The Huskies' women's tennis program has 53 student-athletes earn All-Conference honors from the LEC.

Abby Emerson was named Second Team All-LEC for singles play in 2023.

The Huskies' men's tennis team has won the Little East Conference title on four occasions, most recently in 2016 to cap a three-season streak. USM claimed its first men's tennis title in 2007. Southern Maine has previously won the LEC title and gained a berth into the NCAAs in 2007, 2014, and 2015. In the 2007 NCAA tournament, the Huskies' recorded its first ever NCAA win defeating Ithaca College 5-4 to advance to the second round before falling to Middlebury College 5-0.

Jaden Parker was named Second Team All-LEC for singles play following the 2025 season.

The USM Field House also hosts events for the Huskies' wrestling program. In 2023, the facility served as the host site for the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championships. Two Huskies, Jake Peavey and Jake Craig, qualified for national at the event.

USM's Jake Peavey won the 2023 Northeast Regional Championship at 285-lbs and went on to place sixth at nationals.
