Council Meeting

The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube, ConnectwithTC.

Youth Committee

Lights on Temple City

The holiday season in Temple City kicks-off on Friday, December 1st at Temple City Park with the annual Lights on Temple City event. Festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. and run through 9:00 p.m. The event also includes the holiday parade at 7:00 p.m. along Las Tunas Dr. Activities includes snow play areas, sled runs, arts and crafts, train rides, inflatable jumpers, photo opportunities, parade and of course photos with Santa! Holiday Decorating Contest

Calling all homes and businesses! The annual Holiday Decorating Contest launches from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. on the evenings of December 12-13, 2023. Residents and business owners alike are encouraged to show their festive spirit by dusting off those holiday decorations and untangling those holiday lights. The holidays are made for celebrating!

Contest Details & Rules:

  • Only residences and businesses within the City of Temple City are eligible.
  • There is no registration or cost required to participate.
  • Judging will be based on holiday-themed decor on the exterior of a property.
  • Contest judging typically takes place during the evenings of the second week of December. If you would like to be considered, please leave your holiday lights and decor on from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Judges will tour the entire city looking for the most festive properties.
  • Winners will receive a Holiday Decorating Contest lawn sign and commemorative holiday ornament.
  • Winners from the previous year are not eligible for the contest.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT

The Community Development Department has released its monthly report for October 2023.

Building permit valuation in October 2023 was 19% lower than October 2022. However, fees collected in October 2023 were slightly higher than October 2022 – a 7% increase. Only 158 permits were issued in October 2023, which was 3% lower than the number of permits issued in October 2022. The significant permits issued in October were for three accessory dwelling units, tenant improvements for commercial office, and remodeling permits for several residential units.

Planning received 13 new applications in October 2023. These included 7 ADU applications, 44 vehicle charging stations, a new two-story house, 3 house additions, and a 16-unit condominium density bonus project.

No business licenses were issued in October.

Community Preservation continued to be active in October 2023. So far this year, the number cases opened were 17% higher than the previous year. 65% of the cases opened in October were initiated by the inspector, with 27% initiated by the public.
