Important Information

Summer Fair & Intercultural Day

We are very excited about our Summer Fair which will take place on Father's Day, Sunday 16th June. This year we hope to incorporate our fantastic Intercultural Day into the Fair so that parents and family members may be free to attend at the weekend!

Our Intercultural Day is something we are very proud of. It is a wonderful celebration of the rich diversity we have in St Brigid's. It is a day whereby children along with their parent/s & families can showcase their special traditions, customs, native clothing, food etc. which represent their country of origin. Activities on the day also include workshops, presentations, performances and our wonderful parade.

At the moment we are asking parents wishing to organise cultural performances and parents who wish to have a stall/table at the event to email parents@stbrigidsgns.ie

Uniform

Following consultation with students and the Parents Association we are updating our uniform policy. From September 2024 the following items will be included in the school uniform and students can choose what to wear from the list.

  • School tracksuit top
  • School tracksuit bottoms
  • School shorts (only)
  • White polo t-shirt
  • Wine pinafore
  • White or wine knee length socks
  • White or wine tights

This change reduces much of the "formal school uniform" in an effort to make children more comfortable and make the uniform more affordable (no tie, no cardigan, no shirt, no senior skirt, no trousers etc.)

Thank you to our beautiful model Evie Prizeman for modelling what the option of the pinafore combination will look like.

Positive Behaviour Programme

As we begin the last term of the academic year, students have been revising our school's Positive Behaviour Matrix which they created collectively in September. We are asking parents to go through & discuss these expectations with their daughters. Further resources for promoting positive behaviour in the home can be found by clicking below.

Autism Awareness Day

We are looking forward to celebrating Autism Awareness Day this Thursday 18th April. Remember students can wear rainbow coloured accessories in on Thursday if they wish. Please find some fantastic resources in the links below.

Random Acts Of Kindness

This week our students are committed to doing random acts of kindness. Keep an eye on our website and social media to see our acts of kindness!

Grandparents & Parents Playground Games

On Tuesday 30th of April, parents and grandparents will be invited to the school playground to play and perhaps even share some of the games they enjoyed playing when they were in school. This has been a really enjoyable event in the past. Teachers will arrange the times for this event with the parents/grandparents in their class.

Music

Cork Choral Festival

The choir will be competing in this year's Cork Choral Festival Primary Competiton on Wednesday 1st May. Their repetoire includes "Ceol Earraig" composed by John Buckley and "Funiculi, Funiculá" by Luigi Denza. We wish them the very best of luck!

The Big Sing

Our 5th & 6th classes took part in this year's Big Sing in the National Stadium last night- check out their singing below!

Lord Mayor Kindness Initiative

As a random act of kindness the school choir performed some of their choral repertoire for the residents of Sybil Hill Sacred Heart Residence yesterday and our Lord Mayor, Dáithí de Róiste, was there in celebration of this act.

All Things Active

Athletics

The annual Cumann na mBunscol athletics competition will take place on 24th of May in Morton Stadium, Santry. A small group of athletes from 5th and 6th class will participate in sprints and relay races. Lunchtime training will start for this next week.

GAA

Well done to our GAA team on another successful win in the Fingal League against Our Lady of Consolation. Our team are now two from two in the competition with their last league game on this Wednesday the 17th of April against St. Francis SNS. The game will throw in at 1.30pm and all support would be greatly appreciated. One more win should see the team progress to the semi finals, let’s go girls!

Active Week

To kickstart our Active Week, we are inviting families to participate in Junior parkrun on 28th of April in St. Anne's Park at 9.30a.m. If it is your first time to participate in this free event, you must register with parkrun (button below), make sure to select St. Brigid's GNS as your running group and bring the barcode with you on the day. There was a great turn out of families at the parkrun before Easter and we now have 25 members in our parkrun group already! Unfortunately we missed out on the prize this time but there are more opportunities to win prizes for the school during active week.

Cricket

Coaches from Clontarf Cricket Club will be taking classes from 1st-6th over the next few weeks on Mondays. The girls will be taught the basic skills and rules for the game. Following the lessons, there will be a blitz arranged for children from the school to play against other schools.
