Week 1 - Intro to Course
Today marks the beginning of this course and 14 weeks to learn how digital media arts is able to be used in my future career path. My professor seems pretty cool and her personality is also fun to be around. Adobe reader looks cool to learn and this would be my first time thoroughly using this application for something other than playing internet games online. Hopefully I'll gain a lot of knowledge, skills, and techniques from this course in which will help me in life and also could possible learn to make some money from as a side hustle.
Week 2 - Montages
Today in class had a chance to learn how to create photohop montages. It took me a while to figure out the way everything worked, considering its so many tools at my control enabling me to let my creativity express itseld at my disposal. In the artboard below is a demonstration of what a montage looks like using multiple different pictures, yes I know its all over the place as far as "concept" but because I am able to make my own artboard is pretty cool! Can't wait to see what else is in store for the upcoming weeks!
Week 3 - Exploring with Illustrator & Timeline Vector Logo
This week we began on working with our "Adobe Illustrator - Timeline Vector Logo" in which we use this to explain what the history of the internet is and what makes it unique. We used a various amount of the tools within Illustrator in order for us to let this image come to life. I actually had fun doing this logo! It turned out better than I thought. Can't wait to see how the rest of it turns out! The interesting thing to me was using the amount of tools adobe had to offer in order for this logo to come into life. Additionally we also got a chance to try out some little tricks on about the rectangle tool, different brush strokes and color options, I even was able to create a pig.....yes he has two legs lol gotta be "out of the ordinary" sometimes. The coolest thing to me was using the pen tool to trace the worm on this worksheet, gotta say it looks really good. However, using the pen tool was a bit tricky.
Week 4 - History Of The Internet Style Guide
During week 4 we started to begin on our history of the Internet style guide. We learned how to use "Adobe Color" as a color scheming tool in order for us to choose which color we would be using on our internet style guide and using hex codes to identify the coding of each color we chose to go with. Pexels.com had some very neat images that I found helpful to give my project a bit more "life and definition" to what my logo means and what makes it unique. Things are starting to get more interesting now as we get deeper into the semester, I cant wait to see what is next!
Week 5 - History Of The Internet Timeline
Continuing on into the semester entering week 5 I began on a pretty interesting project known to provide detailed images and text that explains how the Internet was originally birthed including the way it has developed into such a giant from over the social media evolution dating back to as long as the 1960s into present day. I had to use AdobeXD in order to compile the timeline and I will say it was actually pretty fun to use! Pexels.com helped me out with the little mini icons used within the timeline as you can see, using rectangular shaped boxes to hold the text, triangular shapes that utilize the "left to right" guidance of how to read the timeline, and finally the selection of color I utilized actually makes it all come together pretty good! Definitely had fun with this one!
Week 6 - Social Media Advertising
This assignment actually became one of my favorites because we started to learn how to create memes and personally speaking I LOVE memes! (Seriously ask my friends, I am notorious for sending funny memes......hilarious actually.) The task was to create memes for social media channels: Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter; the objective of this campaign is to promote Water Conservation Awareness. Look how adorable the otter looks in the image below!
Week 7 - Personal Brand Development
Week 7! Semester is almost finished and now we start diving into developing our personal brand! We began to illustrate 4 sketches and narrowed it down to just 1 in which we would utilize Adobe illustrator to bring the drawing to life. I was actually pretty impressed with how it came out as the final result, below you can see how I took the initial sketch and made the finished logo! The colors are really cool and my favorite color is blue lol.
Week 8 - Personal Brand - Boost Your Brand Graphics
Week 8! This week learned what it means to be a successful designer means, by having consistency in your brand by having it displayed across all public channels and websites. With the help of using Adobe Photoshop and my awesome professor, I was able to construct some banners seen below that can be used for my own social media platforms. Additionally, I included a handsome picture of myself as the avatar! Looks good right? Thank you, Thank you lol.
Week 9 - Create a Branded YouTube Channel
Week 9 involved using either an existing YouTube account or create a brand new account to begin creating a branded channel. Using what we learned during week 8 about personal branding, I was able to use those skills to make my avatar and banners appear onto my own channel! Looks pretty nice !
Week 9 - Project 2: Semiotics - Symbols
Semiotics: A theory of signs, sometimes called semiology, concerned with the ways in which things (words, images, and objects) are vehicles for meaning. Another part of Week 9 was practicing how to make semiotics! First I started with a sketch of a plant which would demonstrate my subculture topic. Second, with the help of Adobe Illustrator I was able to bring the sketch to life and even added some cool icons to further help interpret the meaning behind my design! Lastly, Adobe XD was utilized to come up with a symbol explanation document, in which breaks down the meaning of each symbol used.
Week 10 - Create a Process Video (SEM)
In conjunction with the project that I have been working on during week 9, this week I have created a process video that shows the steps of production for my semiotics symbol. Using Adobe Creative Cloud Express Video I came up with a video that explains the concept, designs, icons, and even included some nice animations to make it more appealing! Click the link below to check it out on my Youtube channel! Listen to some cool jazz music during the slideshow while watching also!
Week 11/12: Game Mockup & Prototype
Week 11! Almost to the finish line and man does it feel like this semester flew by quicker than expected. Well.......it is the summer semester........summer usually goes by in a flash and BOOM! back to school lol......how fun -_-! Anyway, so this week we began working on our very own TRIVIA GAME! Sounds really fun and it sure was. With the help of Adobe XD I was able to come up with a game wire frame that lays out a(n) blueprint of the game.
Week 13: Conclusion
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU MADE IT TO THE END OF THIS SUMMER SEMESTER! This class was definitely a fun experience. My professor has been the absolute coolest all semester and for that Is what makes her so awesome! I felt really nervous at the beginning of this class being as I am not creative at all even by the slightest, neither have I ever took a shot at digital media arts ever in life. Although as the semester progressed along I started to feel much more confident in my creativity. My first thoughts were that this class was gonna be overwhelming, but luckily I just remained calm and gave my best. I had a lot of fun using Adobe and its applications, who knew that this could take anyone's creativity to the next level! My favorite to use was AdobeXD and the trivia game project had to be my most enjoyable project by far! I made the best choice to take this class during the summer and most importantly had the best professor to teach me! Overall this was definitely worth the time of learning and will surely keep using Adobe!.............until they magically take my subscription away lol! See ya!
