On November 8th, the Town held a Centennial Celebration Event to celebrate our community's 100th birthday. The event featured a sentimental ceremony, resident recognitions of individuals 90-years or older, board and committee member recognitions, free petting farm and games, western photo ops, live music and a laser light show! Our History

Foundations of Davie

Davie, located in Broward County, Florida, was originally known as "Zona" in the early 20th century and was settled by workers involved in draining the Everglades. Renamed in 1916 after developer R.P Davie, who helped build the community, Davie quickly became an agricultural hub. Its rich history is rooted in ranching and the western lifestyle, which is still reflected in its unique rural atmosphere and equestrian-friendly culture. Over the years, Davie has grown into a thriving Town while preserving its historic western charm, evident in its downtown area, horse trails and annual rodeo events.

The Old Davie School

Built in 1918, the Old Davie School Historical Museum holds the distinction of being the oldest permanent school building in Broward County. It was constructed to serve and provide local education to the children of early settlers in Davie who previously had to travel long distances to attend classes. Over the years, the building became a community hub for hosting meetings and social events. Today, it stands as a museum and historic site, preserving the rich history of early Davie and serves as a reminder of the Town's deep-rooted connection to education and community.

The Annual Orange Blossom Festival

Originally named the Orange Festival, the Orange Blossom Festival began in 1937 as a way to celebrate the Town's agricultural roots, particularly its thriving citrus industry. Davie was an agricultural hub, and the festival aimed to highlight and honor the local farmers and the significance of orange groves in the region's economy. It provided an opportunity for the community to come together and take pride in their contributions to Florida's citrus production, which played a key role in Davie's development and identity. The festival has since evolved into a broader celebration of Davie's history and culture.
