SNCDSB #Highlights 2023-24 Edition 3

Advent is a special time leading up to Christmas, celebrated by Christians worldwide. It's a period of anticipation and reflection, symbolizing the waiting for the birth of Jesus. Spanning four weeks before Christmas, it symbolizes hope, peace, joy, and love. Traditionally observed with an Advent wreath, candles are lit weekly, each representing a theme.

Advent has been marked in various ways throughout our schools, parishes, and communities this season.

Some of these include:

  • Weekly prayer services and Advent Masses;
  • Special Advent/Christmas school/community meals;
  • Food bank/food hamper collection and toy drives;
  • Community caroling;
  • Writing Christmas cards for seniors, community members, armed forces personnel, etc; and
  • Christmas concerts and dances
