Construction
Students have begun to focus on the CIE Competition, they have 28 more days until competing. Teams have been already picked out and selected. The students are getting prepared. For this year's competition means a lot to the kids because they are doing it for Dr McGowan's son, they are building a playhouse that can evolve over time when he grows up. These students have been taking their Saturdays to go to these union meetings and to strategize on building their formation of their playhouse .
Digital Media
Our Digital Media I students have been hard at working learning the Adobe Premiere software, as well as learning to write in fountain format. They were able to use their newly acquired skills to write, shoot and edit a short silent film.
Digital Media II students have also been creating mini-documentaries. These documentaries allow students to do research on a topic, and present it in a format that's digestible for themselves and their peers. Many student selected topics they believed in strongly and found themselves enjoying the process. This project also allows students to receive their articulation credit at MSJC.
Entrepreneurship
Year one students wrapped up their Business Plans and then did a fun activity learning to use and design with 3D pens. After this fun activity they moved into a budgeting lessons. They will be moving into working on their resume, cover letter, and career prep lessons for the last part of the month and into April.
Year two students took a short break from the Google suite product lessons and broke it up with some 3D pen lessons and designs. After having fun with their 3d pen projects, they then jumped back into the Google products. Learning these Google lessons will make students more proficient using these Google tools which are used throughout all industries as well as helping them during their time here at Tahquitz and into college
Sports Medicine
Level one students will be working on the digestive system of the human body. Discussing how the body digest food into nutrients that help our bodies in growth, maintenance, and recovery.
Level two students will be covering our last upper extremity section that involves the head and neck. Focusing on detection and management of head injuries more specifically concussions.
I want to give Helaina a huge congratulations on winning the CTE mock interview for Tahquitz High School and Sports Medicine.
Kayla Munoz
Kayla has been a great student to have. She has shown great initiative towards our career development section in the classroom.
She was more than prepared with her resume, cover letter, and letter of recommendations.
I am excited for her about what the future holds as she moves forward into her professional pursuit.
Daniel Huerta
Daniel has been an amazing student and a true pleasure to work with. He has really embraced the full essence of the class by becoming one of our CTE ambassadors and recently competing in the district wide mock interview competition. His enthusiasm to be involved with CTE is amazing. Additionally, Daniel has started his own consulting business and has been doing very well with it. He has come in with questions, has asked for advice and seems to be applying all we've learned in class to real life and is now making money with it.
Edgar Rios Perez
Edgar has really shown tons of growth over the last semester. His attendance has dramatically improved, and he has stayed on top of his work schedule. Edgar really was able to express himself during the creation of his documentary, and it was refreshing to see him work not just for a grade, but out of pride for his craft.
