Female-Led Computing and Data Science Conference Inspires Young Women in STEM HOSTED BY THE CURRY COLLEGE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY

Last week, the Curry College School of Business and Technology hosted Comput/her, an annual one-day conference for female high school students to explore career opportunities in technology, computer science, and data sciences.

Over 180 participants attended Comput/her, which aims to create an inspiring and empowering environment where students can develop their technical skills and connect with industry leaders. By offering hands-on workshops, keynote speeches from successful female role models, and collaborative projects, the conference seeks to bridge the gender gap in technology, while having fun inside the classroom.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

• Erin Kelly •

Erin Kelly is the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Solutions and Strategy at Kraft Analytics Group (KAGR), a strategy, technology, and analytics company focused on the sports and entertainment industry. In her role at KAGR, Kelly leads all client-facing delivery, including strategic consulting, platform delivery, and account management. She holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Tufts University and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University

In her keynote address, Kelly offered perspective on the growing importance of STEM on the business side of sports and some thoughts on opportunities for the students to start growing these critical skills. She shared several data and analytics use cases from KAGR’s work, whose mission is to know the fan better through technology and data. KAGR works across all professional sports leagues and industry players including the NFL, NASCAR, Ticketmaster, and Amazon.
