Principally Speaking
Thank you for a great (and short!) week! 🍂 As we move into this season of gratitude, let’s take a moment to appreciate one another and all the good happening around us. A special shoutout and nacho-average thank you to our amazing PTA for the delicious nacho bar! We’re so grateful for the love and treats they bring to our campus. 💛

Estamos muy agradecidos por el cariño y las delicias que traen a nuestra escuela. 💛
2nd 6 Weeks Attendance!
This year, our schoolwide attendance goal is 96%, and I’m thrilled to share that our attendance rate for the 2nd 6 weeks was an amazing 97.7%! Way to go, Jones! 👏 The classroom winners with the highest attendance for the 2nd 6 weeks are listed below. Those classes received yummy snacks in celebration. Also, individual student attendance brag tags were given to students with attendance rates of 93% or higher (no more than 2 absences)! Este año, nuestro objetivo de asistencia escolar es del 96%, ¡y me complace compartir que nuestra tasa de asistencia durante el segundo semestre fue de un increíble 97.7%! ¡Bien hecho, Jones! 👏 A continuación, se enumeran las aulas ganadoras con la mayor asistencia durante el segundo semestre. Estas clases recibieron deliciosos refrigeradores para celebrar. Being in class every day helps students stay on track, fully engage in lessons, and build strong learning habits. Even a few absences can make it harder to keep up with important concepts and skills. But it’s not just about students—consistent attendance also boosts teacher morale and reduces burnout by minimizing classroom disruptions, improving the flow of lessons, and allowing teachers to focus on instruction. Every day counts toward growth, confidence, and a positive learning environment! 👉🏽La asistencia regular es fundamental para el éxito estudiantil. Asistir a clase todos los días ayuda a los estudiantes a mantenerse al día, participar activamente en las lecciones y desarrollar buenos hábitos de aprendizaje. Incluso unas pocas ausencias pueden dificultar la comprensión de conceptos y habilidades importantes. Pero no se trata solo de los estudiantes: la asistencia regular también mejora la moral del profesorado y reduce el agotamiento al minimizar las interrupciones en el aula, optimizar el desarrollo de las clases y permitir que los docentes se concentren en la enseñanza. ¡Cada día cuenta para el crecimiento, la confianza y un entorno de aprendizaje positivo!
2026-2027 Kinder Applications
It’s hard to believe, but we’re already gearing up and recruiting for next school year! The Kindergarten application window for the 2026–2027 school year is already open! Please help us spread the word to families with rising kindergartners—or siblings who will need to apply as well. Thank you for your support! La Puerta Spanish Center is a privately owned program that several of our students have enjoyed during their summer Spanish camps. They also offer virtual Spanish support via Zoom throughout the school year, helping students reach their individual Spanish language goals—whatever they may be!

Musical Audition Information
The Addams Family Younger@part Cast Audition Form has everything you need: the calendar, audition time slot sign-up, and access to the audition materials and choreography to help your student prepare. You can also find additional information on the Jones Academy Theatre website. If you have multiple students auditioning, please submit a separate form for each student. The audtions will take place December 11-12.

Attitude of Gratitude!
As we proceed into November, our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving. As it is the day we celebrate harvest and blessings (thanks), it is a good reminder that we can always be appreciative of people and things in our lives: have an attitude of gratitude! I challenge all families to have an attitude of gratitude! For the month of November, at least once a week (if not each day) share with one another a couple of things or people that you have gratitude for. Say the what or who as well as the WHY. The why is an important part of helping your child develop relationships and reasoning skills. It may not always seem the case; however, we have so much to be grateful for each day. I hope you are also thankful for the amazing teachers and staff at Jones Academy. All of us are here to support our students. Check out the critical components of having an attitude of gratitude below.
The 4 critical components of Attitude of Gratitude:
- Treasure Yourself – We create the wonderful lives we want by harvesting the great things within us. There are often things we don’t like about ourselves, but we must recognize that we’re made of far more wonderful things than not. We need to recognize our own worth and see our uniqueness as something to treasure and develop so we can live the extraordinary lives we’re meant to live.
- Be More Grateful – We all have the choice to focus on the good or the bad in life. If we focus on the positive things, they expand and guide us down the path to our dreams. If we spend our time in regret, jealousy, and anger, then the negatives multiply and we likely find our dreams sidelined and our goals unattained. We must simply be more grateful, reflecting as much as possible on the good things we have in our lives now, as well as those that are coming to us.
- Thank It Forward – One of the best and quickest ways to feel better and become happier is to do something for someone else. And the easiest as well as one of the most powerful things we can do for someone is express gratitude for who they are and what they mean to us. Thanking someone provides two wonderful gifts: it makes the other person feel good, and it makes us happy at the same time.
- Elevate Your Perspective – People who have achieved great lives point to moments of great adversity and challenge when they learned a critical lesson or built the essential skill that allowed them to be successful. Knowing this, we understand why it is important to seek the positives from all situations, even those that seem completely negative. When we do this, we get better, learn, and grow in essential ways that help us to live richer and fuller lives.
November 13 Cultural Traditions Family Night!
We need your help to bring different cultures to life at this fun event! 🌎✨ We would love for you to sign up for a country and share a treat, tradition, or craft that represents that culture. Let’s make this celebration a vibrant and meaningful experience for everyone!

🍩 Donuts with Dudes Nov. 14 🍩
Join the Jones Dads Club next Friday, Nov. 14 in the cafeteria starting at 7:40 a.m. for “Donuts with Dudes.” They’ll be handing out donuts to kids (*with an adult) until they run out! It’s a hole lot of fun you won’t want to miss! 🍩😄 Kids must be with an adult (dad, aunt/uncle, grandparent, etc.) to receive a donut. ¡Únete al Club de Papás Jones el próximo viernes 14 de noviembre en la cafetería a partir de las 7:40 a. m. para disfrutar de "Donas con Papás"! Repartirán donas a los niños (acompañados de un adulto) hasta que se acaben. ¡Será muy divertido y no te lo querrás perder! 🍩😄 Los niños deben estar acompañados por un adulto (papá, tío/tía, abuelo/a, etc.) para recibir una dona.

Elf-tastic Adventures
We’re transforming our hallways into Elf-inspired magic- straight out of the movie Elf! We need volunteers to help spread holiday cheer, hang decorations, and bring the festive spirit to life for our students and families. If you love holiday fun, creativity, and a little mischief, come join us and help make our school sparkle like Buddy’s North Pole adventures! ¡Estamos transformando nuestros pasillos en un lugar mágico inspirado en Elf, como en la película! Necesitamos voluntarios para contagiar la alegría navideña, colgar decoraciones y llenar de espíritu festivo a nuestros estudiantes y familias. Si te encanta la diversión navideña, la creatividad y un poco de picardía, ¡únete a nosotros y ayúdanos a que nuestra escuela brille como las aventuras de Buddy en el Polo Norte!
Volunteer Sign Up
Many hands make light work and we love our volunteers. We depend on our parents and volunteers to help make the best learning environment that we can for our kids. We encourage you to be an approved volunteer to help make a difference at school, sponsor fine arts events, chaperone field trips and work with students. All volunteers must submit an online application (every year) and upload a copy of your unexpired government-issued photo ID to the volunteer application.
Muchas manos facilitan el trabajo y amamos a nuestros voluntarios. Dependemos de nuestros padres y voluntarios para ayudar a crear el mejor ambiente de aprendizaje posible para nuestros hijos. Lo alentamos a ser un voluntario aprobado para ayudar a hacer la diferencia en la escuela, patrocinar eventos de bellas artes, ser acompañante en excursiones y trabajar con los estudiantes.
