Our Little World Ein Byd Bach Dosbarth Celyn - Nursery

Croeso i Ddosbarth Celyn - Welcome to Celyn Class

This is our Nursery class page 2025. I am so excited to welcome your wonderful children into Sychdyn School this year. This, and our Seesaw page, will be your go-to place for all of the important information, updates, and reminders you will need throughout the term. I cannot wait to begin our learning journey together and to see all of the amazing things the children will achieve.

A Snapshot of our first few weeks at school

We will spend our first half term getting to know our new school, our new teachers and our new friends. We will explore the areas and begin to understand the new routines.

Teachers will spend lots of time getting to know us as we play and enjoy our first weeks at school. They are already excited to share what they learn at parents evening in October.

There will be lots of photos and videos of us exploring our new school on Seesaw so please make sure you have signed up so you don't miss anything.

Our Classroom

Have a little look at our classroom. We have lots of exciting areas ready for quality play and learning experiences. We just need to fill the room with our new wonderful children to make it perfect.

Our Curriculum

Our first topic will be "Our Little World"

We will explore who we are as little humans, what we like, and everything that is important to us in our little world.

Everything we do is underpinned by the Curriculum for Wales (2022). Information on this can be found by clicking the button below.

Our Timetable in Nursery

Each day we spend the majority of our time choosing freely in the provision areas in class. We split the class into two groups, so that each group spends half of the morning inside and half of the morning outside, to truly make the most of everything we have to offer across all areas.

We spend 15 minutes on the carpet during registration time, during which we do a Helper Heddiw session, we talk about the weather, days of the week and we learn a little Welsh, Makaton and other vocabulary which will help us on our learning journey.

We get back together as a whole class half way through the session to refocus, chat about our activities and have a short phonics session, learning the letters and sounds we will need to begin reading.

Our snack is free-flowing in the inside areas, to allow children to self-regulate and decide for themselves when they are ready to eat (apart from on a Thursday morning, where we all have snack together with toast, crumpets, crackers etc to allow children the chance to spread their own toppings and build fine motor skills, independence and social skills eating and chatting together).

A selection of books we will be reading over our first few weeks.
