Tritons Drop Extra Innings Pitchers Duel to UAH

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Hits were at a premium at the Turley Athletic Complex as the Eckerd softball team dropped a 1-0 decision in 10 innings in a pitchers duel with Alabama in Huntsville on Sunday evening.

Brandilyn Reymer made quick work of the Chargers with a pair of 1-2-3 innings to open the game. She escaped a jam in the third, stranding two runners with a strikeout to end the inning.

Reymer kept the UAH bats at bay before giving way to Reese Founds in the sixth inning, who continued to keep the Chargers off the board and force extra innings.

UAH's Katie Bracken kept Eckerd off balance, allowing just three Tritons to reach in the game. Hannah Taylor broke up her no-hit bid with a single up the middle in the fifth inning. She gave EC its best chance of the game as Megan Diaz reached on a hit-by-pitch as well, but the Tritons were unable to plate a run.

The Chargers broke the stalemate in the 10th as Maddie Cartron hit a solo homerun to right field for the win.
