Sea Turtle Family Press IMportant things for Sanderlin families to know!

From Mrs. Cormier

Thank you families for your support and attendance at our Back To School Night/Title I Annual Meeting. We were excited to kick the year off with success and truly appreciate your support!

Important Reminders

Picture Day is Tuesday, August 26th!

School hours are 9:25 - 3:35. School doors open to students at 9:00 for breakfast and getting to class transition time. Please do NOT drop your child off before 9:00 as they will not be supervised. If you need before and/or after childcare, please see the Childcare options flyer were in the first day packet and in the front office.

I cannot emphasize enough how critical it is for parents to follow the policies and guidelines for drop off and pick up. This is imperative to ensure the safety of all students. This includes:

  • Do NOT stop your car in the middle of a street to drop your student off.
  • Students should NEVER cross a road that does not have a cross walk and/or crossing guard.
  • If you are using walker gate, you MUST walk up to the gate to pick up your child and/or your child must be walking off campus. You CANNOT park your car in the street at walker side. Law enforcement patrol this and will ticket you. You CAN pull into the south lot of Lakeview Elementary off 25th St. to park and pick up your child. These policies are strictly enforced. You cannot also park your car and stay in to call students to walk across the street on their own. This is NOT the point of walkers gate - the point is for students to walk home or for you to walk up to pick your child up.
  • You CANNOT walk your child up to the school on car side. Car side drop off is from the car only. If you have a child that needs assistance with a car seat on car side drop off, you can ONLY do this at spot 1. You always need to wait to move into Spot 1 if you need to get out of your car to help with a car seat.

All families should review the District Code of Conduct and District Cell Phone policy. The district and state require that any student with a cell phone or headphones MUST have them off and put away during the student day. Florida House Bill 1105 is now in effect, and our district has updated the Code of Student Conduct accordingly. Students are not permitted to use or have visible any cell phone or wireless device during the school day (bell to bell). This includes use for instructional purposes unless otherwise specified in an IEP or 504 plan. Please note that this policy will be strictly enforced and we ask for your support and cooperation with our students on this policy.

IB Corner

Each month, our school spotlights an IB Learner Profile attribute and Approaches to Learning - ATL skill, helping students grow as learners and community members. At the end of the month, students and teachers nominate a peer who has exemplified the skill to receive our Sea Turtle in Action Award.

In August, we are focusing on being Principled and developing our social skills. Students are encouraged to act with integrity and fairness while building positive relationships with others. We can’t wait to see who earns our first Sea Turtle in Action Award of the year!
