As part of our commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements, we are offering an internship opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic UT San Antonio students interested in Generative AI (generative artificial intelligence).
Location: UT San Antonio – Hybrid work modality
Duration: February 16th - May 15th, 2026 (10 weeks)
Internship Description:
This 10-week internship empowers students to explore and apply Generative AI tools in meaningful, campus-connected projects. The program uses a tiered model to support two levels of interns:
- Level I (New SAIPs): Focus on foundational AI literacy, digital communication, and real-world project experience through collaboration with a campus partner.
- Level II (Returning SAIPs): Deepen previous projects or launch new ones with a focus on leadership, mentorship, and cross-campus impact.
Student AI Partner Level I:
Role: Level I SAIPs are new participants in the Student AI Partner program. Their primary focus is building foundational knowledge of generative AI, contributing to research or design projects in collaboration with a campus partner, and developing essential career skills such as communication, reflection, and digital literacy.
Responsibilities: Learning and Skill Development:
- Complete 1 AI Microcredential
- Complete 1 Professional Development Training (Career Ready Skills)
- Participate in the Journal Clubs and discussions
Research, Development, and Documentation:
- Research Generative AI technologies and effective practices for application in various fields.
- Contribute to the development of student resources for the ethical and effective use of Generative AI.
- Assist in the creation of educational materials related to Generative AI for students and faculty.
Collaboration:
- Partner with team members to brainstorm ideas and identify effective practices to help students and staff use Generative AI effectively and faculty incorporate Generative AI in the classroom.
- Serve as an ambassador to promote ethical, effective, and innovative Generative AI use on campus.
- Participate in group meetings and discussions.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a UTSA undergraduate or graduate program and in Good Academic Standing.
- Enrolled full-time in spring semester (minimum of 12 credits for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates).
- Strong interest in Generative AI and emerging technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- Attend Journal Club sessions and team meetings to enhance knowledge of AI technologies and best practices.
- Submit Weekly Timesheets via Canvas every week
- Contribute to the development of student resources for the ethical and effective use of Generative AI.
- Assist in the creation of educational materials related to Generative AI for students, staff, and faculty.
- Partner with team members to brainstorm ideas and identify effective practices to help students and staff use Generative AI effectively and faculty incorporate Generative AI in the classroom.
