From the Campus to the World Ed and April Hetzel - Cru

Our passion is for every person to have the opportunity to hear the gospel. One of the most strategic ways to help spread the gospel around the world is by reaching university students, who will be the leaders of tomorrow, and faculty, who are the influencers of today.

Although the worldwide population of college students is only 1%, within that powerful percentage are leaders who will shape the world for years to come. Doctors, lawyers, missionaries, and the future president all come from the college campus. We are trusting God to reach the 110 million college students of the World with the message of Christ. Every student, every campus.

Our hearts were captivated to reach the world as college students involved with Cru at USC Upstate in SC. After graduation in 2005, we started working full-time - Ed as a police officer and April as an accountant. We also began volunteering at a local college with Cru. It was through volunteering that the Lord allowed us to see the tremendous need on college campuses and the impact we could have for His kingdom. Following His leading into ministry, we quit our jobs and joined staff with Cru full-time in 2007.

Specifically, we are faithfully trusting God to reach students and faculty at Clemson University and Anderson University. Set in a college town with a beautiful backdrop of lakeshore and mountains, Clemson University attracts students looking for a rigorous academic experience, world-class research opportunities, a strong sense of community, and a vibrant school spirit.

Anderson is the largest private school in SC and invites students to come as they are and discover who they are meant to be. Our hearts are to see students and faculty come to know Jesus at both of these schools, grow in their faith, and tell others about Him. We believe that if we can reach both of these schools with the Gospel, it can and will have an eternal impact worldwide.

We love that God has called us to work with Cru. Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) is a ministry worldwide that seeks to help build spiritual movements everywhere so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus. Cru was started in 1951 by Bill and Vonette Bright on the UCLA campus and has now grown into a worldwide movement with over 27,000 staff members, over 60 different ministries, and now touches the lives of people in every segment of society and in every corner of the world.
