Karma N. Price Actor, Writer, Social Media Manager, Event Producer, Community Cultivator

Hi! I'm Karma.

I'm a passionate, tenacious, and community oriented artist currently bicoastal between Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, California. I recently graduated from Howard University with a B.F.A. in Theater Arts - Acting. As an actress, writer, and director, my artistic mission is to create stories that capture the complexity and beautiful authenticity within the Black community. An educator as well, I am ignited by my goal of increasing the youth’s access to and awareness of the arts. I thrive when working in collaboration, and hope to build a legacy with impactful art where those of the African Diaspora feel proudly and accurately represented.

EXPERIENCE

Acting

I credit my foundational beginnings to my high school, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where I first discovered the power of precision in storytelling and authenticity in creative expression. That foundation piqued my curiosity and carried me across the world to Oxford University, where I challenged myself academically and expanded my perspective on a global scale with the British American Drama Academy. However, it was at Howard University's Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts where everything came full circle; I found a space where I was able to nurture my larger purpose and my passion for performance. Through diverse performances spanning both stage and screen, I’ve continued to grow as an actor, artist, and creative collaborator.

Writing

After spending so much time bringing others' stories to life, midway through my collegiate performing career, I discovered my love for writing. It became my way of reclaiming narratives- putting my voice, my truth, and my experiences on the page. It gave me the freedom to create characters who looked like my community, spoke like my community, and navigated the world with the same complexities I experienced firsthand. In addition to how much I personally loved writing, it was life-changing to hear from audiences and viewers about how my writing resonated with them and made them "finally feel seen"; this became the ultimate goal. Through writing, I found not just a form of expression, but a form of liberation.

Honors & Achievements

Lead Writer in Cohort II of The Walt Disney Company's Disney Storytellers Fund

Writer & Performer of 'how to refine your rage: an etiquette guide to eloquent anger', comissioned for The Young Playwrights' Theater's annual "Silence Is Violence: Liberation" Exhibition

Social Media Management

As someone who couldn't always travel to attend the film festivals or industry events that I wanted to, following along via social media was my way to experience them from home. Because of that history, I have leaned into a career where I use my social media proficiency to continue that level of accessibility from larger brands straight to the public's mobile phones. To me, social media management is all about connection and perspective: taking a moment in time and capturing it in a way that thousands can understand and experience in seconds. I've managed larger media accounts with followings of more than 300k, and I've helped the smaller accounts of new brands gain their footing and build a loyal audience. In my experience, I've learned how to plan content strategically, communicate efficiently, and curate brand pages effectively- all without compromising creativity. Social media management sharpens my ability to balance storytelling with structure—ensuring every post has purpose, impact, and intention.

Event Production

Working in event production has allowed me to play a hands-on role in every part of the process—from the planning and promotion to the execution and its impact. I recently had the honor of leading a fundraising production that raised a record-breaking $84,000 for Black women students at Howard University. I directed all creative, logistical, and mentorship aspects of the performance, which was a celebration Black womanhood through diverse forms of artistic expression. This experience taught me the importance of thinking holistically while dually paying attention to the smallest of details. Most importantly, it showed me the power of cultivating community and creating spaces where everyone feels seen, connected, and inspired through intentional experiences.

Volunteer Work

Service is everything to me. Remaining active in my community gives me the opportunity to step outside of myself and pour into others the way so many have poured into me. I'm a firm believer that any gifts I receive or possess should always be used as a gift to someone else; the goodness I receive will never end with me. Giving back and continuing this f0rward motion is a necessary step in the cycle. Through service, I found (and keep finding) a sense of purpose, investment in community cultivation, and humility in using any and all of my means to uplift those around me.

Background

I was born and raised in "gorgeous" Prince George's County, Maryland. When my parents realized my love for the arts wasn't just a phase, I was enrolled in the county's premiere performing arts academy at the age of 7. From then until my college graduation, I remained in arts institutions deeply immersed in my creative studies. When I'm not on set or somewhere cozy writing, you can find me at amusement parks riding rollercoasters, at the movies with friends debating hot takes, stressing over decision-based video games, developing new skills thanks to YouTube University, or spending time traveling & unwinding with family. I'm a huge nerd who's never tired of learning more about the entertainment industry as my passion for storytelling and creativity is a core part of who I am. I'm thankful for my experiences thus far and look forward to the ones to come!
