On Saturday, February 17th, the Mammoths competed at the Triangle Classic, the last regular season meet of the Indoor Track and Field season.
Bridget Cassata competing in the Pole Vault
Pole Vault
One of the first events of the day was the Women’s Pole Vault, where Mia Bawendi placed third, clearing 3.55 meters (11’ 7.75”) for the third week in a row in a great display of her consistency! Mia also took great attempts at higher bars, showing her potential for the future. Payton Sorensen placed fifth, clearing 3.25 meters (10’ 8”) and she took great attempts at high bars too! Bridget Cassata placed 11th, clearing a season best height of 3.10 meters (10’ 2”)!
Long and Triple Jump
In the Men’s Triple Jump, Isaias Wooden placed fifth, jumping a personal best jump of 11.92 meters (39’ 1.25”)! In the Men’s Long Jump, Isaias placed eighth in a season best jump of 6.00 meters (19’ 8.25”)!
Olivia Steele competing in the 60 Hurdles
60 Meter Hurdles
The first event on the track was the 60 Meter Hurdles, where Olivia Steele placed third in a personal best time of 9.61 seconds, qualifying for the final! In the final, Olivia ran the same time and placed fourth, demonstrating her breakthrough and consistency in the event!
In the Men’s 60 Hurdles, Michael Gerfen placed eighth in the prelims in a time of 8.97 seconds and improved in the final, placing fifth in a time of 8.84 seconds!
60 Meter Dash
In the 60 Meter Dash, Olivia Tennant ran her heat of the prelims twice due to a timing issue, and placed eighth in a personal best time of 8.36 seconds! In the final, Olivia placed eighth in another personal best time of 8.34 seconds! Zoe Mulvihill placed fifth in her heat in the prelims in a time of 8.59 seconds.
In the Men’s 60 Meter Dash, Theo Woodward placed fourth in his heat in a time of 7.35 seconds.
Weight Throw
On the infield in the Men’s Weight Throw, Hugh Lemmon-Kishi started off a strong day by setting a personal best with a throw of 14.50 meters (47’ 7”)! Jacob Shine placed ninth with a personal best throw of 13.37 meters (43’ 10.5”)! Alex MacDonald placed 20th in a near season best throw of 11.58 meters (38’ 0”)!
In the Women’s Weight Throw, Beth Martin placed 8th with a personal best throw of 12.94 meters (42’ 5.5”)! Emma Ramsingh also qualified for the final in the Weight Throw, placing 11th with a personal best throw of 12.01 meters (39’ 5”)!
High Jump
In the Men’s High Jump, Gabe Dos Santos matched his season best jump, clearing 1.85 meters (6’ 0.75”) to place tenth.
Nikki Chopra competing in the 3,000
3,000
Next on the track was the 3,000, where Nikki Chopra earned her first collegiate win in her first time running the event! Nikki ran in second place for most of the race and reeled in the race leader over the course of the last few laps of the race, crossing the finish line in a time of 10:45!
The Men’s 3,000 was another successful event for the Mammoths, as George Cahill won and Aidan Gemme placed second! After the first mile of the race was paced by a competitor, George moved into the lead and confidently ran away from the field, crossing the finish line in a time of 8:45! Aidan placed in a season best time of 8:46! Harrison Talcott ran a strong race, sticking with his teammates and competing hard to place fourth in a personal best time of 8:48! Sam Young and Thomas Stephens placed ninth and tenth, in times of 9:00 and 9:05, respectively. Competing in a different heat of the event, Paolo Canigiula placed fourth in his heat in a season best time of 9:41!
Mile
Next on the track was the Mile, which Bella Lozier won in a time of 5:14! Bella got the race out to a fast start and dared the field to run with her, as she led the race from gun to tape en route to earning the victory!
In the Men’s Mile, Oliver Spiva placed third in a personal best time of 4:29! Daniel Martin placed fourth, running a strong race to pull away from his pack and run a time of 4:34!
400
Chanelle Jaeger was the only Mammoth who competed in the 400, where she placed fifth in her heat in a time of 1:05.
1,000
In the Men’s 1,000, Gent Malushaga and Daniel Martin placed tenth and eleventh, both running a time of 2:43.
200
Theo Woodward placed third in his heat of the 200, running a time of 23.68 seconds.
Hugh Lemmon-Kishi competing in the Shot Put
Shot Put
The Shot Put was an awesome event for the Mammoths, where Hugh Lemmon-Kishi placed fifth with a huge personal best throw of 13.67 meters (44’ 10.25”)! Jacob Shine placed sixth, throwing 13.15 meters (43’ 1.75”)!
In the Women’s Shot Put, Emma Ramsingh placed tenth with a throw of 10.61 meters (34’ 9.75”) and Isabella Niemi placed eleventh with a throw of 10.37 meters (34’ 0.25”). Beth Martin placed twelfth with a throw of 10.28 meters (33’ 8.75”).
4x800 Relay
In the final running event of the day, the Mammoths competed in the Men’s 4x800 Relay. Sam Young led off for the Mammoths where he ran a strong opening leg, giving the Mammoths the lead. Harrison Talcott ran the second leg, running hard from the get-go to keep the Mammoths in first place! Paolo Canigiula ran the third leg and ran hard, handing off to Aidan Gemme in second place. Aidan gave the anchor leg his all, bringing the Mammoths within a second of winning the race, crossing the finish line for the Mammoths in a time of 8:23 after each member of the relay competed in the 3,000 earlier in the day.
Pole Vault
In the final event of the day for the Mammoths, Alec Kuzyk placed fourth in the Men’s Pole Vault, tying his personal best by clearing 4.40 meters (14’ 5.25”)!

NEXT UP for the Mammoths is the Division III New England Championships which will begin on Friday, February 23rd at 3 PM with the Pentathlon and first day of the Heptathlon and will be contested at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. The second day of the Heptathlon will continue on Saturday, February 24th at Tufts with competition beginning at 10 AM. All running and field events will be contested on Sunday, February 25th at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, beginning at 9 AM.
