Young people aged 18-25, regardless of gender, are dynamic and full of dreams for the future. As future professionals and scientists, they study and work in parallel, trying to find the balance between their many obligations. Their desire for independence drives them to be active and aware citizens, contributing to society and the economy through their work and other struggles. However, many of them feel uncertain about the future and the challenges ahead, so they turn to innovation and change to solve their problems and those of the world around them. Although they are visionaries and strive for a better future, many do not have sufficient knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their importance, which limits them from actively participating in shaping a sustainable future.

Define
In Cyprus, there is a lack of knowledge and information about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed by the UN. Citizens. Young people in particular are not informed about these goals, nor are these goals integrated into education. This creates a significant gap in awareness around global sustainability issues such as climate change, poverty and gender equality. Also, understanding of the effects of local and international actions in these areas is hindered. As a result, young people do not actively participate in discussions or initiatives on sustainable development, which limits the possibility of creating a more aware and active youth community in Cyprus. This is confirmed by the statistics and news about our country on the SDGs, which show that the performance indicators are dramatically low. As stated in many recent articles and studies, among the nations of the European Union, Cyprus is at the bottom, and this lack of information among young people negatively affects the country's sustainable development. There is an urgent need for youth awareness and action on the SDGs.

FINAL IDEA
After extensive discussions and workshops, the team decided to pursue a visual campaign, comprising social media and traditional forms of visual communication. All the outcomes will be launched, during a four week period at the end of 2024. The contents of this campaign will target the education system and all those responsible to remind the young people of Cyprus about the importance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This campaign aims to raise awareness about this important issue and the lack of youth engagement in Cyprus.

Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future at the RE-Merry Christmas Market - impact on poseidonia beach hotel
We are thrilled to invite you to the 2nd Edition of the RE-Merry Christmas Market, hosted at the Poseidonia Beach Hotel on Saturday, 30th November, and Sunday, 1st December, from 11:00 to 19:00. As students from the Cyprus University of Technology, we have passionately worked on a social campaign centered around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we are excited to share our journey with you.
An interactive presentation where we, Cyprus Youth for SDGs, will discuss our initiatives, share our experiences, and engage in meaningful discussions about how we can collectively drive sustainable development. Supported by the Cyprus Red Cross Society and other notable organizations, our campaign is a testament to the power of youth in making a difference.
